Overview Associate Lecturer in Construction Management Join the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW as an Associate Lecturer in a Teaching and Research role. This position is intended to cover the responsibilities of an academic staff member who has been seconded to another role for the duration of that appointment. This position is based in Australia. In this role, you will undertake high-quality teaching and research in construction management, with an emphasis on digital technologies, data sciences, and IoT—covering areas such as BIM, smart infrastructure, and data-driven decision-support. You will contribute to UNSW’s leadership in construction management, driving innovation in sustainable infrastructure, digital construction technologies, and integrated project delivery methods. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career academic looking to lay the foundations for a career in academia. The role reports to the Head of School and has no direct reports. Responsibilities Deliver high-quality teaching in construction management with emphasis on digital technologies, data sciences, and IoT (e.g., BIM, smart infrastructure, data-driven decision-support). Conduct high-quality research in construction management with relevant outputs and impact. Contribute to the development and delivery of undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses. Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to advance teaching, learning design, and student engagement. Support activities that align with UNSW’s aims, policies, and safety guidelines. Qualifications and Experience A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience. Proven commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments. Experience in teaching and learning design, development and/or delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. Knowledge of educational technologies and online delivery methods. Experience engaging students and fostering independent learning through meaningful assessment and constructive feedback. Willingness to undertake professional development of teaching practice. Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and contribute to equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives. Demonstrated ability to undertake high-quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision. Evidence of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity. Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships. Strong interpersonal skills and alignment with UNSW’s values and policies. Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to training as appropriate.
