Overview
WASTEWATER FACILITIES OPERATOR III – State of Arizona, Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR). The role is to manage the daily operations of the Water-Wastewater Plant at Arizona State Prison Complex – Eyman, operating and maintaining water treatment, distribution, and wastewater systems in compliance with state health and environmental regulations. Supervision of inmate workers and maintaining accurate maintenance records are included. This is a full-time position located at ASPC – Eyman in Florence, AZ.

Job Duties
* Maintains and operates wastewater treatment plant and equipment
* Monitors compliance with state health regulations and environmental quality regulations
* Implements corrective water treatment/wastewater treatment procedures
* Adjusts chemical dosages based on analysis; collects samples; performs tests; records and correlates data
* Maintenance of portable water system pump and tank
* Supervises the work of inmates
* Inspects and maintains tools and equipment to ensure proper working order and accountability
* Tests and treats wastewater treatment plant; sends samples to laboratory; maintains logs and distributes results
* Tests and chlorinates the portable water system
* Drives on State business
* Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge Of / KSAs
* Principles and techniques of operating and maintaining a reservoir water system, including reservoir management and intake structures
* Knowledge of surveying water sources and surface storage
* Storage facilities, distribution system facilities, distribution operation and maintenance, disinfection, and safety
* Computer logging and graphing related to water treatment and distribution
* Federal and state rules and regulations regarding water quality treatment and reporting
* Practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in sewage plant operation and maintenance
* Physical, biological, and chemical aspects of wastewater treatment
Skills
* Written and verbal communication
* Reading and comprehension of administrative policy, regulatory laws, and procedures
* Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic drawings
* Using hand tools and equipment for maintaining roads, pipelines, culverts, valves, pumps, and meters
* Using a computer to enter/retrieve data

* Collecting field data to prepare maintenance logs and reports

Selective Preference
* Certification equal to or higher than the facility grading. Arizona Systems are Grade 1 through 4 in all four disciplines: Water Treatment, Distribution, Waste Water Collection, and Waste Water Treatment
Pre-Employment Requirements
Grade 1 through 4 Waste Water Collection System Operator Certification from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) for water treatment and distribution, and/or a Grade 1 through 4 Waste Water Collection System Operator Certification for ADEQ for water treatment and distribution, or equivalent above the facility’s grading.
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation, drug test, and a medical/physical examination. If this position requires driving, the employee must possess and maintain a current class-appropriate driver’s license, complete required training, and pass driver’s license record checks.
All employees must take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during New Employee Orientation and annually thereafter. All new State employees are subject to E-Verify.

Retirement
Positions in this classification participate in the Corrections Officer Retirement Plan (CORP).
Current ADCRR Employees: consult with HR if in a different retirement plan. Medical evaluation may be required as a condition of CORP participation.
