Senior Quantitative Developer (Python)

Among the European leaders in Wealth Management solutions, Prometeia is seeking a Senior Quantitative Python Develope r to join our application development teams in Bologna .

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Senior Quantitative Python Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Python libraries and analytical pipelines that support quantitative models in the risk, climate, and credit domains, ensuring quality, maintainability, and reproducible results for internal users (analysts/researchers) as well as client-facing deliverables.

Responsibilities:

Development of libraries (stable APIs) for quantitative calculations and data transformations in risk/climate/credit contexts.
Implementation of analytical pipelines on datasets (mainly using pandas/numpy), with attention to:
-numerical correctness
-handling of edge cases and missing/outlier data
-performance (vectorization, profiling, targeted optimizations)
-reproducibility (versioning, parameterization, consistent environments)

Advanced use of Jupyter for research/validation and conversion of prototypes into reusable, production-grade modules.
Definition and maintenance of tests (unit, integration, regression) and numerical benchmarks.
Contribution to build and CI processes (quality gates, linting/formatting, automated testing, packaging/release).
Collaboration with quantitative stakeholders and, when needed, support in technical communications with teams and clients.

REQUIREMENTS

Degree in a scientific field (mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, computer science, quantitative economics, or related fields).
Advanced Python in a scientific computing context.
Strong command of pandas and numpy.
Solid experience with Jupyter (reproducible notebooks, debugging, structuring, profilng).
Best practices for libraries: API design, modularity, refactoring, code review.
Testing with pytest (or equivalent) and a regression-proof mindset.
Git and PR-based workflows.
Environment and dependency management without conda (e.g., venv + pip / poetry / pip-tools).

Nice-to-have:
Spark / Py
Spark.CI/CD (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar), automated build/test processes, and reproducible environments also via D
ocker.Modern packaging (pyproject.toml, wheels), semantic versi
oning.Quantitative background in risk/credit/climate (even basic domain understan
ding).Technical documentation (MkDocs/Sphinx), executable exa
mples.English: ability to communicate effectively with international clients (calls, workshops, written communication).
