Ph3Overview /h3 pChildren's Coordinator - Rome/Floyd County Library /p p- Plans, organizes, and delivers educational and developmental programs and services to youth and teens. /p p- In coordination with the Branch Manager, performs duties related to library operations, outreach programs and special activities. /p p- Promote literacy and learning within the realm of Children’s Services, including with families, caregivers, teachers, and organizations. /p p- Work with school media specialists and supportive groups to develop and expand Children’s Services. /p p- Develop and implement new ways of engaging the community and non-library users. /p h3Principal Responsibilities and Duties /h3 ul liHelp establish and maintain a high standard of children' s services throughout Floyd County. /li liCoordinates with the Collection Services Manager and Branch Manager in the selection, ordering, and weeding of the Children’s and Young Adult Libraries. /li liResponsible for order and appearance of collection. /li liDevelop and conduct a variety of library programs for children and teenagers. /li liAssist and instruct children and adults in the use of library service resources. /li liConduct library tours for children and visit area schools. /li liIn coordination with the SHRLS Outreach Department, promote and publicize the services, programs and resources of the Children’s Department with preparing flyers and brochures for services and programs. /li liIn coordination with the Branch Manager, supervise duties of staff and volunteers while working in the Children’s Department. /li liKeep informed of trends in children’s literature and library services affecting children and youth. /li liAttend professional workshops and conferences sponsored by GPLS. /li liIn coordination with the Branch Manager, order supplies as needed. /li liCommunicate with Branch Manager regarding the operations in the Children’s and Young Adult Department and prepare reports as needed. /li liPerforms other related duties as assigned. /li /ul h3Knowledge, Skills and Abilities /h3 ul liConsiderable knowledge of children’s and young adult library services, programs and literature. /li liWorking knowledge of library principles and practices. /li liAbility to plan, organize and coordinate work routines. /li liKnowledge of the PINES system. /li liExcellent oral and written communication skills. /li liKnowledge of collection in the children’s and young adult department. /li liAbility to select items for collections. /li liSupervisory skills. /li liAbility to work with children, both individually and in groups and skills in dealing effectively with parents and adults. /li liDue to the diverse nature of our community, bilingual abilities are preferred but not required. /li /ul h3Physical Demands /h3 ul liIntermittent standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending or crouching. /li liOccasionally lifting of light to heavy objects. /li liBaccalaureate degree in a course of study related to occupational field. /li li1-2 two years experience of working in a public library. /li /ul h3Salary Range /h3 p$35,500 - $37,000 depending on experience /p h3Contact Information /h3 pAmy Summerlin - /p /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
