Work is conducted in an office, outdoors in various weather conditions, and in vehicles, including remote and roadless areas. Field work may involve GPS and UAS equipment, with occasional lifting of equipment up to 70 lbs. /ppbDuties and Responsibilities /b /pliCoordinate technical GIS projects to meet goals, plan and organize work, report progress, and recommend changes /liliDesign, create, and maintain the Tribe’s Enterprise GIS System, data, and software /liliAssist in data backup and security, including protection from ransomware /liliManage enterprise GIS databases, including SQL Server, Esri geodatabases, shapefiles, and Access databases /liliAssess and procure new data as needed /liliPerform advanced raster and vector GIS analysis /liliCreate cartographic maps, reports, and GIS products /liliDevelop project-specific GIS applications and processes /liliImplement quality control measures /liliProvide technical support to GIS staff and users /liliDevelop and conduct GIS training sessions and present at workshops /liliEvaluate new GIS technologies /liliManage the Tribe’s UAS Program, including hardware, software, flight planning, and data processing /liliAssist with GIS product recommendations and budget planning /liliParticipate in staff recruitment and evaluation /liliAttend professional development opportunities /liliManage grants related to GIS projects /liliSupervise GIS staff in the absence of the GIS Manager /liliPerform other duties as assigned /lipbQualifications /b /pliSupport the Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s vision, mission, and values /liliComply with health policies, including annual flu vaccination /liliBachelor’s degree in GIS or related field, with at least four years of GIS and enterprise database management experience; a total of six years of relevant experience is preferred /liliProficiency with Microsoft Windows Server (2012 R2 – 2019), Windows 7 / 10 /liliKnowledge of SQL Server (2008-2019), Esri Geodatabases, ArcGIS Desktop and Enterprise software, mobile GIS apps, and related hardware /liliExperience with UAVs, including flight planning, data collection, and post-processing software such as Drone2Map /liliAbility to obtain FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot license /liliKnowledge of GIS applications in habitat conservation, land management, and natural resources /liliStrong research, presentation, problem-solving, and multitasking skills /liliAbility to work independently and in teams, with willingness to travel and work extended hours /lipApplicants may undergo interviews and practical assessments.
