The role of Global Data Senior Scientist is to spread a data-driven culture in the SD&I Immuno team, acting as a primary reference for all data-related activities, in particular the definition of effective solutions for data integration, transformation and analysis, as well as the presentation of meaningful aggregates to the management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Interacts with SD&I Immuno teams and management to identify valuable data sources, define best collection processes and collect requirements about useful information to extract from data sources
* Coordinates internal and external resources in the definition and development of ETL pipelines, ML/AI models and data analysis
* Manage the maintenance and further developments of the SD&I Immuno data platform storing data from Immuno analyzers in field throughout the world
* Provides pre-processing of data, directly or by interacting with external sources
* Analyzes large data sets to identify trends and patterns
* Effectively presents the results of data analysis to management, using appropriate data visualization techniques
* Collaborates with the ITC department to identify the most suitable technologies, platforms, and services for data-related activities, leveraging existing company resources or, when necessary, evaluating and recommending new solutions to be provisioned
* Leads the development of models and tools to evaluate and enhance laboratory automation for internal and external users of Immuno systems
* Provides recommendations to SD&I Immuno teams and to Product Development team for the definition of new systems or products or updates to the existing versions
* Provides insights to Marketing and Commercial organization on clients’ behaviors related with the use of devices in order to explore new commercial opportunities and maximize the revenue stream
* Cooperates with SD&I Cloud team to provide input about data need for storage on Cloud and appropriately exploit data in Cloud for business intelligence
Ensures compliance with the Code of Ethics, the Quality Management System, the Company Policies and the Corporate Procedures.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
Master of Science in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field; graduate degree (PhD) in Data Science or other quantitative field is preferred
* Machine learning and big data analysis
* Optimization models (linear and non- linear programming)
Experience:
* 5+ years’ experience in an equivalent role with specific focus on:
* Previous experience in IVD (In Vitro Diagnostics) and/or highly regulated FDA environments and biotechnology industry experience is highly appreciated
* Programming experience (SQL and Python mandatory)
* Data Visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
* Understanding of machine-learning and operations research
* Hands‑on experience with data platforms (e.g., Databricks)
* Strong knowledge of major cloud services, with a preference for Microsoft Azure solutions (e.g., data storage, analytics and ML/AI services)
* Familiarity with cloud-based architectures and best practices for data processing and integration
* Programmatic usage of open‑source and/or proprietary LLMs
* Seasoned experience using Microsoft Office package
* Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) is appreciated
* Experience with working under ISO 13485 is appreciated
