The new Multipurpose Terminal in the Port of Trieste caters to Container, RoRo, General Cargo, and Project Cargo. Located in the heart of the Adriatic, it aims to meet growing demand and become a key interchange platform between sea and rail at the intersection of Baltic, Adriatic, and Mediterranean railway networks.
IT Software Developer
Purpose of the job:
The IT Software Developer is responsible for delivering software and IT solutions to support the organization’s operations. They design, maintain, and implement database management systems, computer applications, and operating systems. Additionally, they analyze organizational software needs, devise solutions, and maintain PC software and hardware systems.
Summary of responsibilities:
1. Integrate and develop software according to business needs.
2. Manage and maintain current software in use at the terminal.
3. Implement changes based on end-user demands.
4. Keep software systems updated and aligned with latest updates.
5. Ensure IT systems operate without interruption and provide technical support to end-users during terminal operating hours, including nights and holidays when required.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum of 5 years professional experience as an IT Software Developer.
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
* Proficiency in one or more object-oriented languages (Java, Python).
* Strong knowledge of relational database management and backend solutions.
* Experience with MS, Linux, VMware administration tools.
* Proficiency in SQL language.
* Experience with Docker virtualization.
* Preferred: knowledge of EDI, Kubernetes, Integration software, ETL, messaging systems (JMS, Kafka).
Behavioral Competencies:
* Ability to work well within a team.
* Good communication skills.
* Strong problem-solving abilities.
Language Requirements:
Intermediate spoken English.
