FBK is a research institution dedicated to excellence across various disciplines, playing a key role in maintaining the Autonomous Province of Trento's involvement in European and international research. The institution comprises twelve research Centers, details of which are available at .
The Digital Society Center at FBK ( ) focuses on the pervasive impact of digital technology on society, aiming to leverage this technology to foster a more sustainable, inclusive, and secure society. The center conducts advanced research in AI, Big Data, IoT, and collaborates with companies through living labs to develop innovative solutions addressing societal challenges. It consists of 80 multidisciplinary researchers, technologists, and managers, organized into 7 research units and 2 support units.
The Digital Society Lab (DS Lab, ) within FBK explores new service delivery models, communication methods, and information processing to improve quality of life and sustainability in urban environments. The lab collaborates on projects related to smart mobility, environmental sustainability, online services, citizen participation, and education, working closely with other FBK units and external partners.

Positions are available within the following projects:
* PNC-A.1.3 - Digitalization of the Public Administration of the Autonomous Province of Trento : FBK leads activities on AI Data to develop AI solutions for public administration needs, integrating AI methods into a software platform and testing on relevant use cases.
* IPCEI Next Generation Cloud Infrastructure and Services (CIS): CAITE Project : A strategic European initiative to develop resilient, scalable cloud infrastructure, including AI at the edge, security, privacy, and trust services. FBK's CAITE project involves collaboration among several FBK centers, including Digital Society.
Job Description
FBK-DS Lab seeks a software developer for the AIxPA project and the IPCEI CIS project. The role involves designing and implementing software modules to automate deployment, execution, monitoring, and coordination of AI tools within cloud and edge ecosystems. The candidate will work in collaboration with other research units and external partners, disseminating solutions and supporting their application in relevant domains.
The ideal candidate should have:
* Master's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or related fields, or equivalent experience
* Proven experience in software design and implementation using Java, Python, and web frameworks
* Experience with cloud architectures, data management, and AI frameworks
* Knowledge of software management tools and methodologies
* Fluent Italian (C1) and good English (B2)
* Experience in research projects, ability to learn new technologies, teamwork skills, and good communication skills
Employment Details
Type: Fixed-term contract, full-time (38 hours/week), starting around June 2025, for 24 months. The gross annual salary is approximately €38,539.67. Location: Povo, Trento, Italy.
