Job Description
As our global footprint continues to spread across the world, we are looking for a Regulatory Specialist to support our Global Market Access (GMA) team. The role is ideal for a self‑starter and energetic professional who can grow and maintain knowledge of Grid Code Compliance, the Renewable Energy sector, and Distributed Energy Resources (DER), with a focus on grid‑code market requirements. As a Grid Code Regulatory Specialist, you will ensure compliance with grid codes and regulatory requirements internationally, supporting prestigious customers to access global markets and navigating complex regulatory landscapes.
Although the role is hybrid, based at our Carugate (Milan), Barcelona, or Madrid office three times per week, it is an excellent opportunity to impact the future of renewable energy worldwide.
Responsibilities
* Own Program(s)/Scheme(s) where UL is operating or main point of contact with authorities/UL partners to obtain necessary knowledge and regulatory requirements, identify GMA business opportunities, define action items, and track results.
* Act as main point of contact for delivering knowledge solutions to be PoC for key customers.
* Hold transversal knowledge in GMA schemes and requirements to support COUs needs and business expansion.
* Be the key expert contact for compliance requirements required to access multiple countries and/or programs.
* Track regulatory trends and communicate upcoming regulatory changes.
* Identify business opportunities and translate them simply to stakeholders from COU.
* Lead actions related to GMA business expansion scope, track opportunity, and business results from COUs.
* Support transversal knowledge of GMA schemes, multiple countries, requirements, and areas of regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Regulatory Compliance: stay abreast of evolving grid codes, standards, and regulatory requirements in various markets.
* Gap Analysis: conduct comprehensive assessments to identify gaps between existing infrastructure and regulatory mandates.
* Strategy Development: develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance while optimizing operational efficiency.
* Regulatory Guidance: provide regulatory guidance to project teams on requirements and best practices.
* Documentation and Reporting: prepare documentation, analysis, and compliance filings required by regulatory authorities.
* Stakeholder Engagement: collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, to address compliance challenges and advocate for industry interests.
* Training and Awareness: conduct training sessions to enhance awareness of grid code requirements.
* Continuous Improvement: drive initiatives to improve compliance processes and mitigate regulatory risks.
Qualifications
* University Degree (Bachelor’s equivalent) in Electrical or Energy Engineering, or solid technical or business experience in Renewable Energy DER/Inverter or related industry field.
* Knowledge of Grid Code Compliance, Renewable Energy sector, DER, standards, and regulatory frameworks.
* Strong written and verbal English communication skills, additional language skills a plus.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders.
* Strong analytical skills to interpret complex regulations and assess their impact.
* Detail‑oriented with commitment to accuracy and quality.
* Proactive mindset to anticipate regulatory trends and address compliance challenges.

Hybrid work arrangement with three days per week at Carugate (Milan), Barcelona, or Madrid office.
