Job Description
This role focuses on a Project Engineer for national and international R&D projects and consultancies activities, mainly in the field of design and deployment of monitoring/measurement systems, data acquisition and processing and signal analysis.
Job Responsibilities
The new resource will be part of the Maritime Engineering & Research Area, mainly exposed to R&D projects, innovation activities as well as consultancies, aimed to ship structural and performance monitoring.
He/she will:
1. Participate in the selection, setup and use of measurement instrumentation such as hydrophones, pressure gauges, accelerometers, strain gauges, thermocouples, as well as test equipment such as oscilloscopes, data collectors, data analyzers.
2. Participate in the design and deployment of monitoring systems (including management of interfaces with other on-board systems/networks) in the above described fields.
3. Contribute to the analysis of experimental data (both medium-term monitoring campaigns and individual tests), possibly using and/or developing specific signal analysis algorithms.
4. Participate in national and international R&D projects.
5. Actively participate to onboard activities and sea trials (installation, test, measurements, validation campaigns, troubleshooting on already installed systems, etc.).
6. Develop technical documentation within the above activities (system specifications, wiring and connection drawings/diagrams, use and maintenance manuals, installation reports, work lists).
7. Issue reports related to research, innovation projects, on board surveys and measurements campaigns.
8. Contribute to the industrialization of the results of research projects.
9. Contribute to the identification of new opportunities and to the preparation of new proposals in the framework of international, European and national research programs.
10. Develop and maintain a network of relationships with project partners and stakeholders.
Requirements
Education
Master Degree in Mechanical, Electronic, Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent.
11. PhD and/or specialized studies on signal analysis are a plus.
12. Excellent knowledge of electronics, signal processing (acquisition, sampling, filters, advanced signature analysis), networks, communication protocols, acquisition systems and sensors.
13. Fluency in English and Italian.
14. Use of Matlab, Simulink, Python, NI-LabVIEW.

15. Excellent reporting skills both verbal and written.
16. Capacity to conduct research, organize work and produce results.
17. Good attitude to teamwork.
18. Open-minded to innovation, creativity and good attitude to networking.
19. Availability to travel (daily and possibly for several days).
20. Driving license B and willingness to drive.
