We are seeking a Numerical Tribology Expert to join our core technical team, the Technology Office. This role involves addressing complex technical challenges in surface engineering, modeling bearing surface and lubrication phenomena, and driving technological innovation in automotive bearings. The successful candidate will collaborate globally with industry experts, universities, and suppliers, and will be responsible for developing and managing models related to wear, friction, and electrical erosion phenomena. Key Responsibilities: Model bearing features such as material wear, surface failures, and friction. Model bearing applications, including forces and vibrations from surface imperfections. Expand knowledge on electrical erosion phenomena related to tribo-chemical interactions. Optimize and develop tribological test methods and models. Lead the tribology roadmap supporting digital engineering tools. Train and share expertise on bearing surface models. Coordinate external collaborations. Requirements: PhD or MSc in tribology or related field with substantial modeling experience; proficiency in EHL modeling is a plus. Experience in computational tribology, especially in modeling surface failure modes under lubrication conditions. Knowledge of advanced numerical methods (FFT, Boundary Integral, Finite Element). Understanding of multiscale contact physics. Experience in code development (Python, Matlab). Publications or patents in relevant areas. Membership in professional organizations and external collaborations are advantageous. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Willingness to travel.
