Role purpose
As Cloud Design Engineer, you will be part of a global E2E unit in the Cloud Engineering organization that aims to achieve a cloud-ready & cloud-native strategy for Vodafone. Your role is to design and support the delivery of the Telco Cloud virtualized infrastructure in Italy and other cluster markets, aligning with Vodafone's Cloud Engineering strategy to enable onboarding of core network tools with industry-leading quality within planned timelines.
Responsibilities
* Design and support the deployment of virtualization network infrastructure focusing on VMWare NFV & SDN solutions and Red Hat OpenShift, considering capacity, security, resiliency, and automation.
* Support the infrastructure build for Network functions in on-premise cloud environments.
* Work with VNF/CNF onboarding teams to automate end-to-end integrations.
* Focus on solutions involving IaaS, CaaS, PaaS (vCloud, vCenter, hypervisors, storage, networking), remote access, security, and backup solutions.
Key accountabilities
* Solution design and lifecycle management within Cluster IT, GR, AL Vodafone Markets.
* Coordinate with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure timely, quality delivery.
* Design and deliver NVI projects on time and within budget.
* Support process development and automation for VNF/CNF delivery.
* Ensure adherence to standards and guidelines.
* Translate technical requirements into business language.
Key performance indicators
* Timely infrastructure delivery in local markets.
* Achievement of Capex targets.
* Quality and timeliness of solution design and delivery.
Core competencies and experience
* Experience with data center infrastructure, cloud computing, and virtualization architectures (Telco).
* Customer-oriented, systematic working approach.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* Ability to work across multi-functional and cultural boundaries.
* Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
* Degree qualified.
* At least 5 years of professional experience in cloud and virtualization.
* Expertise in data center infrastructure, cloud computing, and virtualization (IT and Telco).
* Solid understanding of virtualization platforms (VMWare, OpenShift) and containerization (Kubernetes).
* Knowledge of routing and switching protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF).
* Experience with Kubernetes networking, Load Balancers, Firewalls, IPv6 solutions.
* Scripting skills (PowerCLI, PowerShell, Python) preferred.
