What we’re looking for

As part of your role, you will be part of a team of four professionals dedicated to the delivery of services (Ship New Building) in accordance with LR and statutory requirements.

This is a full-time permanent role.


The role

Conduct ship surveys of all types during the construction phase.

* Survey materials and equipment intended for marine applications at manufacturer’s works and laboratories;

Interpret national and international rules and regulations applicable to marine assets; understand and apply basic principles of risk management.

1. Provide good control of projects, including communicating with clients, financial control, and timely, accurate reporting.

Conduct relevant activities as agreed in your personal training plan to increase knowledge and competency in survey and related work.

Assist your manager in producing deliverables based on defined specifications, scope, budget constraints, and contractual requirements.

Discuss and present LR services to internal and external clients, suggesting solutions to problems as appropriate.

Understand and assist with survey fee calculations and quotations, appreciating the value of the work undertaken for external clients.

Assist in service delivery improvement by communicating client feedback.

Produce reports, certificates, and documents within agreed formats and timelines.

Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.

Pursue continuous professional development to maintain high knowledge and discipline standards.

Assess or recommend work value and fees for external clients, helping identify appropriate fee and cost structures.

Guide other employees to facilitate knowledge transfer and application.

Contribute to external client management, ensuring service delivery is continually improved through feedback.

Ensure all necessary authorizations are current, possibly involving Activity Monitoring.

Undertake routine administration as required.


What you bring

A degree in Naval Architecture or equivalent from a recognized marine or nautical institution, with relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s Engineer officer.

Preferably over 3 years of industry experience in a multinational organization.

Membership of a professional institution (e.g., I. Eng or equivalent). Ability to adhere to professional codes of conduct and LR Code of Ethics in IMS01.

Excellent command of English and Italian, both written and spoken, using relevant terminology.

Ability to apply general and specialist engineering knowledge to emerging technologies.

Understanding of technical and commercial management principles, such as project and process management.

European Driving License.

Willingness and ability to travel mainly within the specified area.


Preferred but not required

Experience in a classification society and exposure to Marine & Offshore fields.

Working towards or achieving charted or incorporated engineering status.

Spoken and written Italian language skills.
