Industrial Design SpecialistUK or EU based – Italy/Netherlands/Germany£/€ negotiable on applicationRole OverviewAs Industrial Design specialist, you will lead the concept design and innovation of next-generation construction machinery, ensuring alignment with global brand strategy and market trends.Working with teams across the UK, Europe and China you will work on strategic concepts, creating bespoke machine DNA & exploring new markets for next generation product lines.Your Experience: Industrial Design SpecialistSenior Industrial Design Engineer / Leader with 15+ years’ experience in construction machinery, heavy machinery / equipment or related machine industries (Excavators, Loaders, Mobile cranes, Tractors, Diggers etc.)Proven ability to champion new machine systems and drive innovation, product brand and market demands.Strong balance of design, engineering and user needs, with a practical, validation-driven approach (ergonomics, testing, real-world use).Excellent collaborator and communicator, integrating Voice of Customer insights and user centred design concepts into early development.Forward-thinking, with awareness of trends such as electrification, autonomy, UI/UX, and VR, motion capture and AI-driven design.Ability to lead & guide junior engineers and design teams across multiple locations.Strong 2D concept sketching, photoshop and graphic design. 3D Alias surface definition beneficial.Key Responsibilities: Industrial Design SpecialistWorking with the Director of Industrial Design, your will lead and implement industrial design direction for new construction machine platforms across Europe and global teams.Conceptual and “blue-sky” designs of machines to promote the brand and market awarenessLead design research and product road mapping, embedding future technologies into product platforms.Understanding the balance between industrial design and the actual needs of end users, engineering design and production is key.Support and guide digital surface (Alias/Class-A) teams, ensuring high-quality CAD delivery from concept to production.Lead concept design, visualisation (VRED) and virtual prototyping (VR) to support development and communication.Guide HMI (UI/UX) development and overall user experience strategy.Mentor and help develop teams, building a strong, globally aligned design function.The position sits within a multi-cultural, global construction machinery business and could be based either in the UK, Italy, Netherlands or Germany. There will be occasional travel to China – 3-5 times a year.
