Location: Centre for Human Technology, Via Enrico Melen, 83 Bldg. B 16152, Genoa. /ppStep into a world of endless possibilities, together let’s leave something for the future. At IIT, we are committed to advancing human-centered Science and Technology to address the most urgent societal challenges of our era. We foster excellence in both fundamental and applied research, spanning fields such as neuroscience and cognition, humanoid technologies and robotics, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and material sciences, offering a truly interdisciplinary scientific experience. Our approach integrates cutting-edge tools and technology, empowering researchers to push the limits of knowledge and innovation. With us, your curiosity will know no bounds. /ppWe provide equal employment opportunities and foster diversity in all its forms, creating an inclusive environment. We value the unique experiences, knowledge, backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives of our people. By embracing diversity, we believe science can achieve its fullest potential. /ph3THE ROLE /h3pYou will be working in a multicultural and multidisciplinary group within the Molecular Microscopy and Spectroscopy Research Unit, coordinated by Dr Giuseppe Vicidomini, who has extensive experience in advanced fluorescence microscopy, from super-resolution imaging to spectroscopy techniques, and related computational analysis techniques. The team brings together physicists, engineers, computer scientists, and biologists, sharing expertise at the intersection of photonics, computational imaging, and life sciences. /ppUnlike conventional cameras that acquire fixed-frame images, event-based cameras output a continuous stream of asynchronous brightness changes at each pixel. This enables ultra-high temporal resolution while reducing redundant data. However, because they do not produce standard intensity images, new image reconstruction strategies are required. /ppIn this project, you will integrate an event-based camera into an existing wide-field fluorescence microscope at IIT, acquire the first experimental datasets, and develop algorithms to reconstruct conventional time-series images with the highest temporal resolution from asynchronous event streams. /ppYou will also conduct a literature review on the application of event-based cameras to microscopy, acquire fundamental optical knowledge to set up the system, and explore computational approaches to analyse and visualise data. /ph3ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS /h3ulliEnrolled in a Master’s degree in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines. /liliProgramming skills (preferably Python). /liliStrong motivation to learn new experimental and computational techniques. /liliGood command of spoken and written English. /li /ulh3ADDITIONAL SKILLS /h3ulliInterest in optics, fluorescence microscopy, or event-based detectors. /liliInterest in optics, fluorescence microscopy, or bio-inspired sensors. /liliAbility to work independently and in a collaborative team. /liliSpirit of innovation and creativity. /liliGood time and priority management. /liliAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment. /li /ulh3COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS /h3ulliA yearly gross salary up to 25.000,00 € /liliCandidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried out scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% for 6 to 13 years. /li /ulpPlease submit your application using the online form and including a detailed CV, cover letter (outlining motivation, experience, and qualifications, and why our lab), and names and contacts of 2 referees. /ppApplication deadline: November 5th, 2025. /ppTo discover more about life at IIT, visit the dedicated section here: /ppFill in the form below and send your application. /ppI have read and accept the privacy policy /ppI have read and I accept the terms and conditions /p /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
