2. is a civil European rescue association founded in 2015 to face the humanitarian tragedy and the lack of adequate state rescue capacity in the Mediterranean on the deadliest maritime migratory route in the world since 2014. Created by a group of European citizens, our maritime and humanitarian organisation has three missions :

7. is a network composed of four European entities (Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland) sharing the objective to support our rescue operations at sea. Search and Rescue (SAR) operations have been carried out since February 2016 in the Central Mediterranean off the Libyan coasts with the chartered ships Aquarius and Ocean Viking. To date, over 40,000 people have been rescued by SOS MEDITERRANEE.
8. Job description
9. Working as a member of a diverse team committed to humanitarian and maritime search and rescue in the central Mediterranean, the Deputy Search and Rescue Coordinator (Deputy SARCo) supports the operation of SOS MEDITERRANEE on board.
10. Major Duties and Responsibilities include:
* Collecting, centralising, archiving, and communicating evidence about all activities and observations of the ship.
* Maintaining evidence recording material (VTap, manual audio recorders, backup microphones, CCTV camera).
* Logging all activities, observations, and SAR-related communications in a detailed timeline and sharing it with relevant personnel.
* Coordinating the collection of bridge watch observations, ensuring they are included in the timeline and logbook, and requesting additional information as needed.
* Gathering, treating, organizing, and archiving all evidence, with proper backups.
* Supporting the SARCO in preparing the Maritime Incident Report (MIR) draft.
* Maintaining the AIS roaming station.
* Providing factual details about operations to the communication officer and journalists from the timeline.
* Monitoring bridge activity during SARCo engagements and being ready to substitute when necessary.
11. Communication duties include liaising with the team on board, dispatching SITREPs, and participating in testimonies or interviews as needed.
12. Management responsibilities involve supporting and helping the SARCo coordinate and supervise onboard teams, ensuring they have necessary information, and resolving conflicts.
13. Procedures, tactics, and strategy involve participating in drafting and updating operational strategies, developing SAR frameworks, proposing improvements, and ensuring equipment and procedures adhere to standards.
