Position Purpose
Performs developmental screenings to children. Initiates referrals for children and their parents to community agencies and professionals as needed.
Essential Functions
- Performs developmental screenings to children ages 2.5-5.11 years.
- Trains new personnel regarding Child Find procedures, protocols, and materials.
- Assists in the coordination of the Child Find referral and screening process.
- Assist families in accurately completing necessary paperwork required by agencies.
- Effectively works with community agencies to provide services/programs to meet needs of children inside/outside of the school environment.
- Coordinates with school personnel in identifying and meeting social, emotional, and physical needs of children.
- Compiles data and prepares various reports and records required by the school, district, and/or other agencies.
- Maintains confidentiality when working with families and other personnel.
- Provides necessary follow-up with families.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of School Readiness, Chief Instructional Services Officer, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.
Qualifications
Must hold or be eligible to hold a valid South Carolina teaching certificate. Certification in Early Childhood preferred.
Experience
- Prior tutorial experience preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of children.
- Ability to work with others.
- Willingness to follow directions.
- Ability to handle unforeseen situations in accordance with Board Policy.
- Ability to accept individual differences among children.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented.
