Professor Yuri Battaglia invites scholars to present expressions of interest in applying jointly with the University of Verona, Department of Medicine (Vr), Italy for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF) on nephrology: exercise on hemodialysis and ultrasound in kidney disease.
The fellowship will take place at the Nephrology and Dialysis Unit, Pederzoli Hospital, Peschiera del Garda (Verona). The main research topics are as follows:
1. The feasibility, balance, and efficacy of exercise interventions on microRNAs, physical performance, nutritional status, psychosocial conditions, and biochemical data in patients undergoing dialysis treatment.
2. The impact of different hemodialysis modalities on physical performance, nutritional status, psychosocial conditions, and biochemical data in dialysis patients.
3. Lung ultrasound-guided treatment of heart failure in patients with stage 3b-5 CKD.
Eligible candidates should include: Medical doctors, Biologists, Physiotherapists, Exercise physiologists, Graduates in motor sciences, Nurses, Dietitians, Exercise professionals, Biomedical engineers or professionals with a similar background.
Overall, candidates should have an interest in exercise, and/or ultrasound, and/or hemodialysis.
Hosting research group / Supervisor:
We are looking for applicants for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship to be presented with our Department as the main host institution.
Yuri Battaglia is an associate professor of nephrology at the University of Verona, Italy, and the head of the Nephrology and Dialysis Unit at Pederzoli Hospital in Peschiera del Garda, Italy. He has published several articles and reviews in national and international journals.
Selected candidates will be offered both academic and administrative support from the Department and the University of Verona Grant Office with regards to the proposal preparation.
ELIGIBILITY
Candidates must be eligible according to the criteria established by the 2024 MSCA Postdoctoral fellowship call:
* To have a PhD at the call deadline (September 10, 2025)
* To have up to 8 years of research experience after PhD
* To be citizens of an EU State or of an Associated Country or long-term resident in Europe (only for Global Fellowship)
* Not to have resided or carried their main activity in Italy for more than 12 in the 36 months before call deadline (September 10, 2025) – for European Fellowship
* Not to have resided or carried their main activity in the country of the Host Institution in the third country for more than 12 in the 36 months before call deadline (September 10, 2025) – for a Global Fellowship.
Besides, candidates should be fluent in English, should have excellent teamwork attitude, organizational skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
