Who we are looking for
As a Welding Sensor Engineer, you will play a key role in developing reliable monitoring architectures, establishing data acquisition frameworks and transforming process data into actionable insights, contributing to cutting-edge advancements in industrial-scale additive manufacturing solutions.
You will contribute to advancing Caracol’s WAAM technologies, taking responsibility for sensor selection and integration, process control and real-time monitoring to enhance process stability, quality, and automation.
Responsibilities
Select, integrate and optimize sensors (thermal imaging, acoustic emission, laser scanning, cameras, electrical sensors) for real-time WAAM process monitoringPlan and execute validation runs to test sensor integration and monitoring performanceDevelop data acquisition frameworks and analyse process data to support monitoring and control strategiesEnsure robust integration between robotic systems, controllers and monitoring hardwareCreate technical documentation and internal guidelines to support process standardization and knowledge transferContribute to internal and external training activities related to WAAM processesCollaborate with external partners such as research institutions and technology partners on specific projects
Ideal Background
Master’s degree in Automation, Electronics, Mechatronics, or similar Engineering fieldsAt least 2 years of experience in data acquisition, signal processing within an industrial manufacturing environmentKnowledge of welding processes (CMT, TIG/MIG) and the impact of process parameters on manufacturing outcomesExperience with process monitoring, automation or real-time control systemsExperience with robotics or additive manufacturing is considered a strong plus, particularly within WAAM technologiesBasic understanding of materials science or metallurgy is appreciatedFluency in English is mandatory
