Project Manager – Data Center
Location: Milan or Rome, Italy
We are looking for a Project Manager to lead the development, construction, and commissioning of electrical and utilities infrastructure for a new data centre in Italy. This role will also support business development and strategic initiatives related to project development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead energy & utilities projects from concept to delivery, ensuring alignment with business goals.
* Coordinate with engineers, contractors, stakeholders, and utility providers for HV/MV infrastructure.
* Supervise the design and construction of substations and power lines, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
* Manage resources, budgets, schedules, and quality control processes.
* Track project progress, conduct regular meetings, and escalate issues as necessary.
* Negotiate contracts and bids with contractors, developers, and consultants.
* Support site due diligence activities and resolve factors impacting project handover.
* Review deliverables, raise queries, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Prepare progress reports to support decision-making and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Key Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Industrial, Energy Engineering, or a related field.
* Advanced knowledge of HV/MV electrical systems and Italian electricity regulations; experience in other European markets is a plus.
* 3+ years’ experience working with DSOs, TSO, suppliers, or utilities.
* Proven experience in planning, design, permitting, and construction of HV/MV substations and underground power lines.
* Familiarity with power line concessions, interconnection agreements, and utility operating models in Italy.
* Experience with data centre clients is an advantage.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
* Proactive, autonomous, flexible, and commercially astute.
* Fluent in Italian and English.
