Job Description: Customer Solution Engineer (CSE), Marine at KONE Italy

We are seeking a Customer Solution Engineer (CSE), Marine who will offer technical expertise to the sales team, understand customer needs, and transform these into optimal KONE solutions. The role is based at the Monfalcone shipyard and involves responsibility for the overall solution for the customer, including integrations, solutions, services, and products.
The CSE will define specifications, lead engineering efforts in cooperation with Front-Line teams, Supply Line, and support functions. They will work at the customer interface, participate in customer meetings, and possess deep knowledge of KONE solutions and services across business lines, especially for cruise, ferry, and cargo ships. Costing, planning, and ensuring solutions meet installation, maintainability, and compliance standards are key aspects of the role.
Responsibilities and Key Activities
* Collaboration with sales: Find optimal technical solutions, ensure scope clarity, participate in customer meetings, select appropriate product platforms, and propose solutions across all KONE business lines.
* Solution planning – Costing: Understand materials and service costs involved in engineering, installation, and maintenance.
* Solution planning – Specs: Create product specifications for local materials and oversee the technical content from order to delivery.
* Solution planning – Availability and lead times: Coordinate engineering schedules.
* Solution planning – Installability: Ensure solutions are installable and consider installation costs and efforts.
* Solution planning – Maintainability: Ensure solutions meet the product lifecycle needs.
* Solution planning – Compliance: Ensure solutions meet codes, regulations, safety, and environmental standards.
* In the sales process: Provide technical content for pre-tender reviews and develop holistic solution plans.
* In the delivery process: Coordinate layouts, analyze change requirements, and communicate solutions to relevant teams.
* General responsibilities: Participate in product release sessions, contribute to product management, and support the Customer Solutions Engineering network.
Skills and Educational Requirements
* Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Engineering or similar
* 3-5 years of relevant marine engineering experience
* Fluent in English and Italian
* Understanding of Marine solutions and customer segments
* Technical knowledge of Marine offerings and standards
* Solution and value-selling skills
* Ability to translate customer needs into technical specifications
* Knowledge of Marine installation processes and standards
* Proficiency with engineering tools like CAD
* Basic knowledge of competitors’ solutions
* Understanding of total solution costing elements
* Strong virtual communication and teamwork skills
