POST CONTEXT
These are positions within the Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation(CMRE), an organization of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).CMRE is an established, world-class scientific research and experimentation facilitythat organizes and conducts scientific research and technology development, centredon the maritime domain, delivering innovative and field tested Science & Technology(S&T) solutions to address defence and security needs of the Alliance.The positions are within the Engineering and Information Technology Division (EITD),which supports the execution of the Programme of Work.EITD consists of the Engineering Branch and the Information Technology Branch:• The Engineering Branch addresses the engineering and technological
requirements of the Centre's research activity, by designing, developing,constructing, testing at-sea and maintaining, repairing and calibrating electronic,oceanographic, mechanical, acoustical assemblies and unmanned systems,

especially prototypes, or combinations of such units as required. The branch hasthe following sections:• Ocean Engineering Section;• Sonars & Marine Sensors Section;• Embedded Systems Section.
• The Information Technology Branch supports the conception, design, development
and construction of state-of-the-art technologies in computing, networking and datainfrastructure as well as developing, integrating, and validating softwareapplications, services and products. All this is done while ensuring interoperability,security and compliance with relevant NATO policies and regulations. The branchhas the following sections:• Software Development and Data Management Section;• Scientific CIS Section;
The positions are within the Information Technology Branch, Software Developmentand Data Management Section.
We are now seeking to fill-in the following Software Development and DataManagement technical positions:
• Quality Assurance (QA) Technician G8/G10
2. PRINCIPAL DUTIES
o Data collection and data maintenance: Ensure data and metadata quality bycurating and preprocessing data to remove inconsistencies and increase
o Data quality assurance: Perform routine checks and automations to correctdiscrepancies and enhance usability of scientific and engineering data
o Support data analysis: Assist researchers and other team member bypreparing datasets, generating reports, and perform preliminary dataanalysis

o Data Preparation and Preprocessing: Clean, preprocess and transform rawdata into structured formats suitable for machine learning, ensuring dataquality and consistency

• Quality Assurance (QA) Technician G8/G10
The QA Technician will be responsible for ensuring that our software productsare thoroughly tested, well-documented, and maintained to the higheststandards. This role involves verifying test coverage, implementing test-drivendevelopment (TDD) practices, and collaborating closely with developmentteams to deliver high-quality software solutions. o Manage and maintain on-premise and cloud data storage systems to ensurereliability, scalability, and security.

3. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND ADDITIONAL DUTIES
a. Flexibility ClauseThe Incumbent may be required to perform other related duties even in other parts ofthe Organization as directed.All other related duties should correspond with the required competencies for the job.b. Deployment/TravelThe incumbent may be required to perform their duties onboard Centre or charteredvessels. The incumbent may be required to undertake TDY assignments within andc. Certification (only for QA Assistant)The incumbent needs to hold a fit for sea certificate in line with the InternationalMaritime Organization (IMO) and International Labour Organization (ILO) standardsbefore taking up duty.

7. REMARKS
The duties are performed in an office, laboratory, workshop environment or on-boardCentre ships. Slightly undesirable working conditions may apply.
