Scope
The MSAT-Analytical Characterization Hub Lead, based at Rosia site (SI), defines and drives the analytical characterization (non-routine testing) of GSK products (Vaccines and Medicines) to support process development, comparability studies, investigations/remediations and innovations in line with projects / business priorities. She/he is responsible of the coordination of non-routine Quality Attributes and Critical Quality Attributes testing to support multiple GSK product manufacturing sites, primarily Rosia and Parma sites, with different processes.
In this role, you will:
* Assess the lab needs to satisfy analytical support and ensure the successful methods transfer from other part of the organization (R&D, QC), including methodology, instrumentation, data processing and performance. Lead analytical method development /qualification when needed.
* Lead a team of analytical specialists, providing guidance, training, and support. Responsible for hiring and training staff, managing performance, and fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
* Provide technical leadership to the laboratory team. Responsible for troubleshooting analytical issues, optimizing performance, and ensuring that the analytical capabilities (resources, equipment, methods…) are used effectively.
* Manage the budget for the laboratory's activities. This involves planning and forecasting costs, monitoring expenditure, and making financial decisions that balance cost-effectiveness with the lab needs.
* Ensure the flexibility of manpower workforce to achieve customer satisfaction and cost targets in the short, medium terms in managing downsizings and / or headcount increases for his /her service.
* Foster motivation and development of the whole staff through adequate performance management, feedback, coaching, training, and communication. Ensure that people remain state of the art in terms of science and technology in their fields of expertise.
* Communicate with various stakeholders, including laboratory staff, senior management, and vendors. Interact efficiently with internal and external partners for delivering all objectives on time and with quality required supply chain customers (Italy and other sites), in line with business priorities.
* Responsible for authoring/approving technical reports and assist analytical experts in the writing of technical reports, work with statisticians to interpret all data generated. Present analytical data or results through oral presentations.
* Collaborate with other departments, vendors, or external research institutions to drive innovation or automation in laboratories.
* Participate to the management of MSAT-Analytical budget related to his /her service (OPEX, CAPEX, Headcount) along the year including the mid-year forecast and manpower allocation. Deliver according to the agreed budget (and any additional agreed financial tasks).

Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
* Degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry), Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
* BS and 9 years of experience in Vaccines / BioPharma / Biotechnology industry or MS and 7 years of industrial experience or PhD and 3 years of industrial experience.
* Good understanding of the scientific knowledge of analytical protein characterization and FDA regulation for commercial products.
* Hands-on technical expertise in major area of protein analytics. Managing new technologies and management systems.
* Project management skills, Project management experience and use of scientific databases.
* Spoken & written English and Italian (communication, negotiation, facilitating, influencing).
