Job Description
The Field Service Engineer or Field Service Representative (FSR) will be responsible for providing on-site technical customer service, including chemistry tests, chemical feed and control equipment maintenance, chemical inventory management, technical recommendations, and written service reports. This is a customer-facing position.
Ensure compliance with all aspects of safety on the job – including the operation and maintenance of an assigned company vehicle – and comply with all VEOLIA Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and Italian laws.
Install, service, and maintain chemical feed and water treatment equipment at designated locations.
Act as a technical consultant and liaison with customer management and technical counterparts.
Perform water analysis and/or collect samples for preparation, labeling, and shipment to the designated laboratory for analysis.
Work with PLC controls, understand water process treatment design, and repair pumps, instruments, and control panels.
Conduct preventive maintenance and calibrate feed pumps, controllers, feed rate charts, and maintain log sheets.
Maintain inventory of spare parts (lube oil, tubing, and piping) and an adequate supply of reagents, sample containers, and shipment containers for routine and special sampling and analysis.
Travel to customer sites to perform preventive maintenance and related services.
Troubleshoot and repair pumps, instruments, and control panels; calibrate feed pumps and controllers and maintain logs.
Work closely with Sales to provide insight into new instrument and service opportunities and upsell consumables at existing customer sites based on need.
Operate frequently in a heavy industrial environment requiring the use of personal safety equipment and exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and other irritants typical of refinery, chemical plant, and power plant environments.
Optimize system performance.
Drive the Value Generation Plan on assigned customers.
Ensure efficient weekly planning, service optimization, and time spent versus contract requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a similar field.
Possession of a driving license (Category B) is required.
IT proficiency.
Fluency in English and Italian.
Ability and willingness to travel regularly within the assigned territory; overnight stays may be required.
At least six months of relevant work experience (e.g., internships, training, initial professional experience).
Proven time‑management and organizational skills to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions, and meet deadlines.
Ability to exercise independent judgment consistent with department guidelines.
Ability to maintain workflow and anticipate future needs of the team.
Self‑motivation and the ability to drive projects to completion with minimal oversight.
Team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working within a globally diverse team across different time zones.
Effective benefit‑oriented presentation skills.
Previous international experience (studies, practical work, travel) is appreciated.
