System Administrator (Linux / Infrastructure)About the RoleWe are looking for a System Administrator to support IT solutions developed for the European Commission – DG JRC. The role contributes to systems supporting the EU Common Fisheries Policy, including platforms used to collect, process, and manage fisheries data from EU Member States.You will work within an international ICT team to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of the project's infrastructure and applications.Your Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and Windows workstationsPerform system patching and operating system upgradesManage Docker-based container environmentsAdminister systems supporting databases, web applications, and data collectionMonitor system logs, performance, and storageManage backup and restore operationsProvide 1st and 2nd level support to usersDevelop basic automation scriptsMaintain technical documentation and asset inventoryCollaborate with developers, ICT teams, and project stakeholdersEnsure compliance with security policies and procedures
Your ProfileExperience
Minimum 5 years of experience in Linux system administrationExperience with container technologies (Docker / Kubernetes)Experience with Windows system administrationExperience with scripting (Bash)
Technical Skills
Ubuntu LinuxDocker / container managementPostgreSQLWeb servers (Apache)Monitoring toolsBackup and restore practicesNetworking fundamentals (TCP/IP)Basic automation and configuration tools (e.g., Ansible)
