THE POSITION
We are looking for an experienced, team-oriented, and dynamic Senior System Engineer to strengthen the Global IT Operations and Laboratory Manufacturing Team.
In the role of Senior IT System Engineer the candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our production processes with global standard functions in combination with innovative solutions.
The candidate will also act as a business partner connected with internal and external IT colleagues, acting as an expert for existing and new global systems, for local Italian systems.
This role is pivotal in supporting the digital transformation journey of both Italian production sites in Fornovo San Giovanni (BG) and Noventa Padovana (PD), with a strong focus on the investment programs, which aims to elevate the site's digitalization and integration with global solutions. The candidate will foster a culture of innovation, proactively engage with business partners, and ensure the sustainability and competitiveness of these very important locations in the Boehringer Ingelheim network.
Responsibilities:

• Act as IT partner for local Italian production sites, engaging with Local and Global stakeholders, and external vendors to align business needs with IT solutions and anticipate site requirements, risks, and improvement opportunities
• Own the end‐to‐end lifecycle of global and local IT solutions, including design, development, testing, deployment, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement
• Coordinate and steer system‐related activities proactively, ensuring timely execution and adherence to agreed standards
• Maintain system architectures and documentation throughout the solution lifecycle
• Lead medium to large IT initiatives or contribute as a key expert in complex projects
• Drive the simplification, automation, and standardization of IT services and processes in close collaboration with other IT specialists
• Manage incidents and escalations, orchestrating effective solution resolution and demonstrating strong problem‐solving capabilities
• Ensure solutions meet quality, compliance, and regulatory requirements, including GxP, legal, and corporate standards
• Support and help manage the site and area IT budget and resources, ensuring efficient utilization and strong performance
• Contribute to the successful execution of digital transformation initiatives and ensure seamless integration with global platforms
• Promote collaboration, diversity, and continuous development within the IT organization to strengthen overall capability and flexibility

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, business informatics, engineering or a comparable qualification
• Not less than 3 years of professional experience in the IT environment
• Comprehensive knowledge of design, built, validation, rollout and operating computerized systems within the GxP environment
• Project management experience in medium/large IT projects
• Excellent communication in Italian and English
• Proactive communicator
• Cost-conscious, with a focus on business value and sustainability
• Passion for innovation, with a track record of identifying and implementing new technologies or processes
• Ability to work effectively in virtual and multicultural environments
• Experience with the pharmaceutical manufacturing processes in development and/or commercial operations will be a plus

• The gross annual base salary foreseen for this position ranges from €49,600 to €66,000, depending on candidate's skills and experience.
