For an important client in the railway/transportation systems sector, we are looking for 1 Data Center & Network System Engineer based in Sesto Fiorentino (on-site presence required 3 out of 5 days).
Prerequisites for this role are:
Experience in design and implementation of virtualized architectures (HW, Hypervisor and SW architecture). Candidate shall demonstrate proven experience in the sizing and implementation of Hyper Converged VE solutions
Strong knowledge of networking TCP/IP stack, routing, VLANs, Spanning Tree protocols, redundancy protocols (HSRP, VRRP and similar), network management protocols (SNMP) -
Knowledge of Cybersecurity and Information security: Application Firewalling (UTM), Access Control Rules, etc.
Good knowledge of Operating Systems, both Windows and Linux based
Field experience / knowledge of IT Hardware vendor solutions and capability to perform compared analysis of IT proposals
Knowledge of Windows based auxiliary services (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, GPO, PKI Infrastructures, MSSQL)
Datacenter / Network System Engineer is required to with a professional experience of min. 3 years in the definition, implementation and maintenance of datacenter systems.
On field expertise (at least 1/2 years) is also requested in the design and configuration of Network systems
DC Engineer role will require a sound technical knowledge and experience in IT systems supporting virtualized and containerized environments, from the Design to the Configuration and operation of such infrastructures.
In the preliminary phase of project, the candidate will analyze contractual and system requirements defining the datacenter infrastructure, providing comparative analysis of contractual documents and tender/bid technical proposals.
During integration and development phase, the DC engineer will support the IVVQ (Integration, Verification, Validation & Qualification) team and coordinate with Suppliers to build the designed infrastructure (datacenter IT and network equipment).
Practical experience with devices as firewalls, routers, switches and load balancers
Following skills/ areas of knowledge will be considered a plus
Proxmox VE knowledge
Capacity to troubleshoot virtualized infrastructure and connected services through state-of-the-art IT monitoring tools (e.g. Zabbix, Prometheus, …)
Competences in the full stack from the bare metal of computing and storage to the management services of hypervisors
Knowledge of Docker / Kubernetes / Ceph
Knowledge of Cloud paradigms (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) with specific references to Azure Services and Amazon Web Services (AWS), as well as Hybrid Cloud
Knowledge in scripting languages (e.g. Python)
Additional certifications /skills which will positively considered in the evaluation of the candidate will be:
- Cisco CCNA or similar certification
- Proxmox – related certifications
- Other VE systems certifications
Fluency in written and spoken English is highly recommended
