Software Development Engineer, Alexa Customers & Technology Join the team that brought you the Echo Show, a touch‑screen enabled Alexa device that supports video calling, music, weather, and more! Our Echo Software team works on the Echo Show, as well as other high‑profile consumer electronics products including Fire TV, Kindle, and the Echo family of devices. We are seeking a talented software engineer passionate about voice‑first experiences and multimodal interfaces to bring innovative experiences to millions of customers. As a software engineer in the Alexa Customers & Technology team, you will develop features that present innovative speech‑backed visuals and experiences on the Echo Show, Echo Spot, and similar Alexa‑powered devices. Specifically, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining new systems, partnering with other Amazon and third‑party services and device teams as required. You will ensure that Alexa maintains consistent and reliable interactions, delivering services that respond with minimal latency at Amazon scale. Building software that enables integration of Alexa voice and multi‑modal services into compelling applications that run on millions of Echo family devices, and Alexa‑enabled devices. Driving engineering best practices (e.g., Operational Excellence, Security, Quality, etc.) and setting high standards by taking proactive measures to fix deficiencies and make continuous improvement of the end product. Maintain constant focus on energy and memory efficiency to deliver superior products while reducing customers' costs and environmental footprint. Adopting, innovating, and driving efficiencies using Gen AI tools and practices throughout the software development lifecycle, from design and coding to testing and deployment. Contribute to the professional growth of team members through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and promoting engineering best practices.

3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems Experience programming with at least one software programming language Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability and scaling) Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object‑oriented design
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
