At Hostelworld (Permanent), in Multiple Locations Expires at : 2025-08-19 Remote policy : Full remote WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH The Software Engineer in Test works with a dedicated team of Software Quality Engineers to ensure high quality in the software and infrastructure of the Hostelworld platform. You will collaborate with technology groups and business owners to refine quality standards and processes for software design, development, and deployment, supporting an efficient, robust, secure, and high-performing platform to support our growth. Ideal candidates have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in Software Quality Assurance, focusing on web, mobile web, and web application testing for high-volume customer-facing platforms. Experience with enterprise-level projects delivering robust, fast-paced solutions with a focus on continuous improvement is essential. You will perform hands-on QA work daily, contributing individually and as part of your team to improve quality, ensure timely delivery, and uphold technical excellence. WHAT YOU'LL DO Complete testing cycles on our main website across multiple devices and OS Understand and analyze changes to define effective test plans Utilize TestRail for testing activities, updating assets, and reporting progress against milestones and plans Define and gather metrics and KPIs on QA activities Modify working practices based on metrics analysis Support junior team members in automation skills and best practices Assist in estimating, prioritizing, planning, and coordinating QA activities within software development teams Implement best practice tools and processes to maintain quality standards Develop and maintain test cases using Gherkin notation Execute test cases and regression test suites in TestRail Provide production support, including patch/hot-fix testing Report bugs and track issues to resolution using Jira, creating reproducible scenarios Support regulatory, audit, and security QA activities internally and with external partners Ensure sufficient test coverage across customer-facing channels (web, mobile web, mobile apps) and internal tools Collaborate with product management and technical leadership to create roadmaps, estimate work, and set priorities Contribute to a positive working environment aligned with company culture Keep stakeholders updated on activities affecting their goals Main requirements WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Strong knowledge of QA best practices, with ISTQB foundation qualification as a minimum 4 years testing websites and web applications across devices Experience with JIRA, TestRail, Postman, Device farms Working knowledge of writing tests in Gherkin Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Experience gathering QA metrics and adapting approaches to improve efficiency Experience working in dispersed QA teams supporting high-quality, timely software delivery in Cloud environments Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform Strong interpersonal skills fostering collaboration and openness Excellent organization and time-management skills in a dynamic environment Ability to handle escalations and manage multiple priorities Clear communication skills for effective teamwork and stakeholder engagement Knowledge of modern quality approaches like BDD is a bonus Automation experience with Playwright and/or TypeScript is advantageous Benefits & Perks Competitive salary & benefits Enhanced annual leave plus 3 Wellbeing Days per year Paid family leave (maternity, paternity, surrogacy & adoption) Agile working and a Working from Abroad Policy Support for ongoing growth & development Inclusive policies for sickness, menopause, compassionate, and fertility leave 5 paid volunteering days to give back to your community J-18808-Ljbffr
