You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
Key job responsibilities
* Build, deploy, and scale the Amazon networks that support AWS, customers, and other business units across multiple global data centers.
* Design, implement, and support scalable testing infrastructure solutions for optics interconnect development and product deployment.
* Develop automated tools and standardized processes for high‑volume optical transceiver system‑level testing.
* Lead collaborative efforts with internal stakeholders and supplier partners to establish robust testing frameworks and quality assurance procedures for optical modules.
* Work with network operations team to identify operation issues, improve quality and RMA process, and improve link error handling efficiency.
* Engage stakeholders to identify areas of improvement during rack deployment or bring‑up.
A day in the life
On an everyday basis, you will understand AWS network requirements on interconnect solutions, devise hardware solutions, and develop software tools with sister teams to maintain a highly available network that delights AWS customers. You design and implement processes and mechanisms that help the team deliver business impact while raising the bar on operational excellence.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience.
* 8+ years of work experience on optical communication systems or components.
* 8+ years of experience with optical transceivers and IEEE standards.
* 4+ years of experience developing test scripts for optics validation and characterization.
* 2+ years of experience working with optical and networking merchant silicon suppliers, manufacturing processes, and qualifications.
* 1+ year of professional development experience with Python or a similar scripting language for automation scripting.
Preferred Qualifications
* Master/PhD or foreign equivalent in Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering or a related field.
* 2+ years of experience in hardware and systems design, development, and troubleshooting.
* 1+ year of experience in the application network design, including knowledge of major protocols, topology design, network hardware, device configuration and traffic engineering.
* 1+ year of experience working with ODMs and component suppliers in delivering optical solutions.
* Knowledge of Amazon’s leadership principles and functional/technical depth and complexity for this role.
Benefits and Compensation
The base salary range for this position is 157,300.00 – 212,800.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined by factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
