With a strong reputation for pushing technical boundaries, they play a key role in shaping the future of space-based optical communications and ground station infrastructure.As part of their continued growth, we are looking for a Laser Communication System Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team working on cutting-edge optical systems for both terrestrial and space environments.This is a highly collaborative environment where engineering excellence, innovation, and hands-on problem-solving are at the core of everything they do.The RoleAs a Lasercomm System Engineer, you will contribute to the design and development of advanced optical ground systems and laser communication technologies, supporting projects from early concept through to testing and validation.Key responsibilities include:Leading system-level activities for optical ground stations and laser communication systemsDefining system architecture, sizing, and performance budgetsManaging subsystem requirements and interface definitionsPerforming analysis, modelling, and simulation of optical systemsDefining verification and validation strategiesSupporting integration, verification, and experimental testing (lab and field)Producing high-quality technical documentationCoordinating subcontractors and overseeing technical deliveryActing as a technical interface with customers and stakeholdersYour BackgroundMaster’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Physics, or a related field~3+ years of experience in optical systems, particularly within laser communications or photonicsStrong team player with a proactive and detail-oriented mindsetComfortable working across multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electronics, operations)Good communication skills in EnglishKey Skills & ExperienceHands-on experience in at least one of the following:Free-space optical satellite communicationsSatellite laser rangingLaser beam propagationLaser physics and photonicsExperience with system-level design and performance analysisProficiency with MATLAB, Python, or OctaveStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesAbility to contribute across the full system lifecycleDesirable ExperienceKnowledge of adaptive optics and wavefront sensingExperience in optical detection and communication systemsFamiliarity with pointing, acquisition, and tracking systemsExperience with optical design/simulation tools (e.G. Zemax)Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.G.
