Your Role
You will conduct, with limited support from the Laboratory Head, analytical experiments aimed at characterizing biologics such as DS, DP, and IPCs for development, clinical, and commercial work packages (e.g., comparability studies) to support non-GMP and GMP testing.
Focusing on glycoproteins, primary, secondary, higher-order structures, and mass spectrometry data, you will interpret and report experimental results, highlighting atypical, critical, or unusual findings, and propose additional experiments as needed. You will actively participate in scientific exchanges within Merck and externally, maintaining excellent collaborations with our customers.
Who You Are
* Degree in Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Chemistry; specialization in biological characterization is a plus, with 1 to 3 years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
* Strong knowledge of protein, glycoprotein, fusion protein chemistry, and related analytical methods, including RP, IEX, HIC, HILIC, SEC coupled with mass spectrometry (e.g., Orbitrap, HDX, Quadrupole), and techniques like CD, FTIR, Fluorescence, DSC, DSF, and aggregation/particle characterization.
* Proven expertise in intact molecule analysis, primary structure, PTMs, and glycoprotein characterization.
* Team player; result-oriented; supportive, proactive; adaptable; eager to learn and curious.
* Proficient with software/tools such as Office, mass spectrometry data evaluation software (e.g., Empower, BioPharmalynx, Expressionist), and digital tools.
* Fluent in spoken and written English.
