AsExpert Quantum Hardware Engineer you will be part ofEniquantic. In particular you will contribute to the realization and assembly of a quantum computer based on arrays of optically trapped individual atoms, and to the development of innovative experimental techniques for the implementation of novel quantum computing protocols with neutral atoms.
Main activities
* Conception, design and development of innovative hardware solutions for quantum computation with arrays of Rydberg neutral atoms trapped in optical tweezers.
* Construction and assembly of parts of the experimental apparatus and testing of the complete system.
* Executions of experimental research activities aimed at the study and implementation of quantum computing protocols through manipulation of atomic qubits.
* Collaboration with the Engineering teams in the development of electronics and software for the control and synchronization of the experimental systems, and of optical systems with high efficiency and stability.
Required features
* Master’s degree in Physics or Physical Engineering
* PhD in Physics or related fields – highly recommended; other titles could be considered if backed by a strong experience in the field.
* At least 3 years – including any PhD – of experience of research and development in quantum technology or similar areas.
* Knowledge of experimental atomic physics and experience with experimental techniques of atomic cooling and trapping, coherent manipulation of quantum states with electromagnetic radiation and high-resolution imaging of atomic systems.
* Experience with optical and electro-optical instruments and in the design and realization of free-space and/or fiber-based optical setups for quantum computation and/or simulation experiments.
* Experience with low-noise, single frequency laser sources with high spectral purity.
* Experience with experimental techniques based on neutral Rydberg atoms for quantum computing (preferential requirement).
* Experience with two-electron atoms, especially Ytterbium, for quantum technological applications (preferential requirement).
* Experience in the realization of ultra-high vacuum (UHV) setups for quantum computation and/or simulation experiments (preferential requirement).
* Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams with autonomy and proactivity.
* Excellent knowledge of English.
* Willingness to travel.
