Ph3About the Position /h3 pThis position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the 31st Force Support Squadron, Auto Hobby Shop at Aviano AB, Italy. /p pThe purpose of this position is to perform and instruct patrons in minor motor vehicle repairs on a variety of motor vehicles. /p h3Who May Apply /h3 pOpen to everyone. In accordance with the Status of Forces agreement between Italy and the US, you must be at Aviano AB on orders and be a US citizen or citizen of a NATO country with a US permanent resident card. Italian citizens may not apply for US NAF positions; however, may be eligible for local national positions on base. Must be able to provide documentation proving residence status overseas. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. /p h3Qualifying Experience /h3 ul liSkills in using basic automotive tools. /li liSkill in operating equipment common to the trade. /li liSkill in operating a small variety of test equipment. /li liKnowledge of techniques for removing, replacing, cleaning and installing parts, components, and accessories. /li liAbility to determine when parts should be cleaned and reinstalled or replaced. /li liMust be able to read and interpret parts manuals and manufacturers' repair manuals. /li liAbility to frequently lift, handle and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally, with assistance, objects weighing up to and over 50 pounds. /li liAbility to frequently stand, bend, stoop, crawl, and work in tight spaces for long periods of time. /li liMust possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License and an Allied Forces in Italy (AFI) motor vehicle license to operate vehicles. /li /ul h3Condition(s) of Employment /h3 pSatisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level/NACI) is required. /p h3Physical Effort /h3 pRequires frequent standing, bending, stooping, crawling, and working under vehicles and working in tight spaces. Frequently lifts, handles, and carries parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds; occasionally up to or over 50 pounds. /p h3Working Conditions /h3 pWork is usually performed inside on concrete surfaces where there is exposure to drafts, noise, and fumes from vehicles. Occasionally performs work outside under adverse weather conditions. Constantly exposed to dirt, dust, and grease, and to the potential for burns, chemical irritations, shocks, bruises, cuts, strains, and slipping.
