This is an ideal role for community college students pursuing degrees in early childhood education, human development, or related fields. As a part‑time Assistant Teacher, you will work under the guidance of a Lead Teacher to support classroom routines, encourage children’s learning through play, and help maintain a nurturing and safe environment.
What You’ll Do
* Assist with daily classroom routines, including play‑based activities, meals/snacks, rest time, and transitions.
* Engage in hands‑on learning experiences with children, encouraging inquiry, exploration, and social‑emotional growth.
* Help maintain a clean, organized, and aesthetically inviting classroom environment.
* Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to implement Reggio Emilia‑inspired learning experiences.
* Provide supervision indoors and outdoors to ensure children’s health and safety.
* Support documentation of children’s learning through observation and note‑taking.
* Model respectful, compassionate, and developmentally appropriate interactions at all times.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Enrolled in a local community college program in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field.
* Experience working with children in group settings (e.g., volunteering, babysitting, summer programs).
* Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and collaborate.
* Reliability, flexibility, and a joyful attitude toward working with young children.
* Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and participate in active indoor and outdoor play.
* Must be at least 18 years old.
Required Qualifications
* TB Test Clearance
* Current or in-progress certifications:
o CPR/First Aid
o Food Handler’s Permit
o Bloodborne Pathogen Training
o 30‑Hour STARS training (to be completed within 90 days if not already obtained)
