Amazon is looking for a Network Deploy Technician to join our infrastructure operations team. You will work with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment to drive stability and scalability of our next-generation networks and assist in automating and scaling network operations. The role includes scaling support for several data center locations and assisting with capacity management. You will collaborate with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate project execution as directed by Network Leadership and Technical Project Managers. You will leverage experience supporting large-scale, enterprise-class networks and contribute to the development of best practices and refined operational procedures.
Key responsibilities
* Manage work and priorities through ticketing systems and workflows to complete customer requests and projects
* Collaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles
* Troubleshoot networking, routing and interconnectivity issues, including device configuration and low-level application interaction
* Travel up to 90% within the geographical work area; some travel outside the area may be requested, including internationally
* Troubleshoot cabling infrastructure connectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords
* Specify power and cooling requirements and ensure hardware racking/stacking for new equipment
* Participate in migration, basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware
* Move and lift computer equipment up to 40 lbs
* Available to work in an environment that operates 24/7
Basic Qualifications
* 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
* 1+ years of computer networking experience
* High school or equivalent diploma
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and under pressure
* Experience with fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment, and troubleshooting methodologies
* Industry standard certifications (BICSI, CompTIA, CCENT, Network+)
* Experience with network troubleshooting tools (VFLs, OTDR, power meters)
* Knowledge of major command line protocols (Cisco IOS, JunOS, GNU/Linux) and common networking protocols (BGP, OSPF)
