Within Global services & Intelligent Solutions, the Intelligent bearings business line is SKF’s reference for Encoder bearings, Electronic Parking brake and SKF insight (Fiber Optical Sensors). We stand out due to the diversity of our products and equipment. We primarily serve the OEM market, providing embedded Plug & Play solutions for rolling equipment, mainly in Material Handling, Agriculture, Railways or Heavy industries. We work in project mode with our clients to deliver unique solutions tailored to specific application needs.
Within this organization, we are seeking:
Mechatronics Product Engineer (F/M)
You will be responsible for providing solid technical expertise and Product knowledge support to comply with requirements coming from Customers, Application engineering or Manufacturing on various aspects such as Functional Safety, EMC, Type approval, certifications. You will work primarily to “Drive by Wire” products, combining Electronic Parking Brake and Electronic Steering Input Unit.
Reporting directly to the Factory Manager Drive by Wire, and dotted line to the System Engineering Manager, your mission is to guarantee that product specifications, customer requirements and production capabilities are fully met.
Your responsibilities:
• Oversee the functions and performances of integrated mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems in mechatronic products, ensuring alignment with product goals and system requirements.
• Analyze mechatronic systems to guarantee or enhance performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
• In collaboration with the quality dept, investigate field issues and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare, maintain & update technical documentation, incl. schematics, drawings, BOMs, or specifications
• Evaluate and qualify component substitutions or design changes when obsolescence or supply constraints.
• Ensure product compliance with industry environmental standards, functional safety regulations, type approvals and SKF quality procedures.
• Provide engineering support for product testing, validation, and certification processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams incl. mechanical engineers, firmware developers, and manufacturing specialists.
• Survey emerging technologies and industry trends in mechatronics and automation.
• Process Engineering knowledge is a PLUS to support production by resolving product/process related issues on mechanical, electrical, firmware or control systems.
About You:
• M.Sc. degree in Mechatronics, Systems, Automation, Mechanical, or Electronics Engineering, or equivalent education and experience in these fields.
• Solid understanding of mechatronic systems and product management processes. .
• Foundational knowledge in the cross-functional mechatronics domains, to support multidisciplinary system analysis and integration.
• Solid experience with network analysis tools is required, preferably with Vector SW (CANalyzer, CANape).
- Hands-on experience with additional engineering tools such CAD/ECAD software (SolidWorks, OrCAD, Altium), and programming environments (C++, Simulink, MATLAB) are considered a strong asset.
• Familiarity with requirements management tools (Polarion) or New Product Introduction (NPI) processes is a plus.
• Experience with test bench activities, laboratory instrumentation and product troubleshoot and verification.
• Proficiency in reading, interpreting and authoring technical documentation (specifications, datasheets, drawings, schematics.)
• Understanding product compliance with industry environmental standards, functional safety regulations, and type approvals is an asset. (CE, UKCA, UN/ECE, ISO)
• Experienced in applying standard methodologies for problem-solving, project management, and process capability analysis.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
• Demonstrated initiative and creativity in solving complex engineering challenges with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Fluent in English and Italian, both written and spoken. French is a plus

Ideally, the position is based in SKF Airasca (Italy). Saint Cyr sur Loire (France) can be evaluated.
