The FM Lead is responsible for leading a team of Data Center facility managers in Italy, ensuring the delivery of safe, secure, and available operations across all data centers within their scope.
Reporting to the Data Center Infrastructure Lead, the FM Lead collaborates with critical roles such as Critical Environment Managers, Energy Managers, Operations Contract Managers, and Operations Quality Managers to meet operational objectives and support strategic goals. They ensure adherence to internal processes and systems, engaging regularly with the Customer Success team to fulfill operational requests and objectives.
The FM Lead is tasked with developing Facility Managers into leaders by fostering entrepreneurship, responsibility, and adaptability. They identify competencies and resources, providing guidance and expertise, and promote Data4 strategy and best practices. Responsibilities include succession planning, talent development, performance reviews, and setting individual business objectives. They also provide support to other countries within Data4 Operations as needed.
The role involves reporting weekly, monthly, and quarterly to the Data Center Infrastructure Lead and the Head of Data Center Operations. The FM Lead participates in ISO9001, 27001, 5001, PCI-DS, and ISAE-3402 audits, managing gaps and proposing mitigation plans for non-compliance.
They participate in technical meetings with customers and suppliers, ensuring knowledge sharing within their teams and incorporating feedback into activities. The FM Lead ensures critical alarms are addressed with appropriate mitigation and remediation plans within Service Level Agreements, including root cause analysis shared via Event Retrospective Reports.
The FM Lead supervises Tier 1 and Tier 2 activities, including maintenance planning, corrective works, review and validation of changes and MOPs, dry runs, and BMS follow-up to ensure optimal performance. They are accountable for achieving operational standards through training and incident drills, evaluating team capabilities, and proposing operational improvements. They establish individual objectives for team members and assess performance according to Data4 HR policies.
Responsibilities also include ensuring compliance with certification policies related to IMS, H&S, environment, information security, and energy management, and actively improving these systems with stakeholders.
Job-specific responsibilities include hiring and onboarding Facility Managers, developing personnel, managing performance and training programs, defining performance targets, and implementing improvement plans. The FM Lead issues operational performance reports, aligns standards with industry best practices, drives continuous improvement, manages risks, and collaborates with other teams to enhance service quality. They support special projects such as construction, service delivery, energy management, and compliance initiatives.
Requirements include a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar or mission-critical operation role, preferably with incident management background, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Energy Engineering or equivalent experience.
Technical skills required include broad knowledge of data center infrastructure management, change management, incident resolution, familiarity with IT ticketing tools (JIRA, Proxima, Remedy), and KPI analysis. Preferred skills include people management experience, strong work ethics, and trustworthiness.
