Overview
CAE’s Simulator Technician Internship offers an opportunity to learn and support pilots while working with advanced flight simulators in Sesto Calende, Lombardy, Italy. The role involves a varied workload across a wide range of simulators, systems, and equipment, with a 24/7 shift pattern (4 days on, 4 days off; alternating day and night shifts).
Responsibilities
* Prepare the Simulation Training Equipment for daily operation for each training device, based on the published monthly schedules.
* Load appropriate exercise scenarios and perform tasks required to prepare for specific training sessions; complete Journey Logs at the start and finish of scheduled sessions.
* Receive training and perform simple assignments in office, on site, field, and laboratory. Some projects may be experimental or design-oriented.
* Solve a variety of complex simulator and/or aircraft systems problems.
* Learn and perform preventive maintenance tasks on the simulators and associated systems.
* Assist in diagnosing and correcting problems on the simulators and associated systems.
* Utilize the maintenance management system to record and track maintenance activities.
* Assist with pre-flight and post-flight operations on designated simulators and perform basic visual alignments.
* Run automatic Qualification Test Guides (QTG) and assist with hardware refurbishments and modifications.
* Learn and comply with CAE quality management system; provide customer service and address customer needs in a timely manner.
* Perform housekeeping, logistics duties (receiving parts, repairs, testing/validation), and administrative tasks as required.
* Support the technical services group as needed.
What you will learn / Skills you will develop
* Preventive maintenance and diagnostics of simulators and related systems.
* Use of maintenance management systems and documentation of activities.
* Operational support for training sessions and pre/post-flight procedures.
* Basic visual alignment, automated testing, hardware modification support, and QA processes.
* Customer service, logistics, and administrative tasks related to simulator operations.
* General computer literacy and familiarity with test equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, signal generator, logic analyzer, etc.).
Ideal Candidate / Qualifications
* College Diploma in Electronics, Mechatronics, Aeronautics, or Mechanics is required; hands-on technical experience is preferred, especially if formal technical education is limited.
* Willingness to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing schedules.
* Basic ability to interpret system prints and schematics; experience with operating test equipment.
* Basic knowledge of analogue and digital theory.
* Computer literacy (PC and/or system architecture).
* Proficiency in soldering and circuit board repairs.
* Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
* Fluent in English and/or Italian.

Position Type
Internship (6 to 12 months, fixed term). Initial placement in Internship or Apprenticeship with potential for permanent employment. Our programs are designed toward long-term employment, and we seek young talent who want to grow with us in aviation.

Come Tirocinante / Apprendista Tecnico di Simulatore presso CAE, entrerai a far parte del nostro team esperto con sede a Sesto Calende, Lombardia, lavorando su simulatori di volo avanzati che preparano la nuova generazione di piloti e mantengono aggiornati anche i più esperti.
L’attività si svolge su turni 24/7 con lo schema: 4 giorni di lavoro + 4 giorni di riposo + 4 notti di lavoro + 4 giorni di riposo, ripetuto durante tutto l’anno. Turno diurno: 07:00–19:00; Turno notturno: 19:00–07:00. Il pranzo o la cena durante il turno saranno offerti dall’azienda presso la mensa interna. Durante il tirocinio/apprendistato imparerai come i nostri tecnici esperti: preparano l’attrezzatura di simulazione per le operazioni quotidiane, caricano scenari di esercitazione, completano registri di bordo, ricevono formazione e svolgono compiti semplici in ufficio, sul campo e in laboratorio, partecipano a progetti e risolvono problemi complessi relativi ai simulatori o ai sistemi aeronautici.
Competenze che svilupperai: manutenzione preventiva, diagnostica, gestione della manutenzione, supporto formativo, operazioni pre/post volo, allineamenti visivi, test automatici (QTG), modifiche hardware, conformità al sistema di qualità CAE, supporto al cliente, gestione logistica, attività amministrative e supporto tecnico.
Requisiti: Diploma in Elettronica/Meccatronica/Aeronautica/Meccanica; disponibilità a turni flessibili; capacità di interpretare schemi; conoscenza di strumenti di test; teoria analogica/digitale; competenze informatiche; saldatura e riparazione di circuiti stampati; conoscenza di Microsoft Office; fluente in inglese e/o italiano.
