Supplier Quality Management (SQM) is a global team, part of the KONE Safety & Quality function in KSC, that manages the supplier selection, qualification, development, and quality processes to achieve the expected level of quality and services.
We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join the SQM team in Pero, Italy.
In this role, you will be responsible for supplier selection, qualification, development, and management processes to achieve the expected level of quality and service. The Supplier Quality Engineer ensures suppliers are capable and complying with KONE’s quality and sustainability requirements. Supplier Quality Engineer effectively applies supplier quality management processes, tools, and resources to drive KONE Supplier Excellence.
What will you be doing?
· Developing, piloting, and implementing strategies, roadmap, quality practices, and requirements, both in the SQM team and within the assigned product tribe.
· Partnering with stakeholders to ensure that product and process quality, technical and business requirements are defined for the tribe’s suppliers’ base.
· Manage supplier qualification process and participate in supplier negotiations.
· Monitor and report supplier delivery/quality performance and ensure corrective/preventive actions.
· Ensure audits/assessments at suppliers are planned and executed with the target of securing adherence to KONE’s quality and sustainability requirements. Ensure transparency of information.
· Ensure that reported quality issues and audit/assessment findings are analyzed, root-caused and corrective/preventive actions agreed upon, and implemented to prevent a reoccurrence of quality issues.
· Continuously improve suppliers and mitigate potential risks to achieve business objectives and drive supplier development projects, as well as drive their performance by building and establishing effective corrective and improvement actions.
· Act as result provider in new product/change projects and ensure the right quality via execution of production part approval process (PPAP).
· Actively support the implementation of Lean Six Sigma methodologies at suppliers and internal KONE processes.
· Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and sustainability standards.
To succeed in this role, we expect you to have:
· At the minimum B.Sc. level University/University of Applied Sciences technical degree
· Minimum 3 years of experience in the sheet metal (fabrication) manufacturing environment with a strong technical background
· Product and process auditing experience, management system auditing experience with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 or similar
· Fluency in English (Read, Write, and Spoken)
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills: the role is required to interface with different levels of stakeholders in an international and cross-cultural environment
· Good analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
· Strong project management skills
· Strong solution-oriented approach, capability to implement, and persistency in follow-up activities to ensure quality and sustainability
· Self-driven and self-motivated to learn and coach
· Result oriented!
· Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 30% of the time)
Add-ons that will make the application stronger:
* Fluency in any European language (e.g., Finnish, German, Spanish, Italian) is a plus.
* Certification within Lean and/or Six Sigma will be perceived as an advantage.
* Understand car industry quality practices such as IATF 16949 and VDA standards (for example VDA6.3).
