RINA is currently recruiting for a Direttore Operativo Opere Civili - Geologo to join its office in Genoa, Italy within the Civil Engineering Division.
Mission
The Civil Works Site Supervisor – Engineering Geologist plays a crucial role in overseeing the execution of civil and infrastructure works, focusing on geotechnical and environmental aspects. Reporting to the Construction Manager and working within the Site Supervision Team, the role ensures construction activities comply with technical specifications, environmental constraints, regulations, and safety standards.
Key Accountabilities
* Site supervision and technical oversight of geotechnical and geological elements, ensuring compliance with project designs and regulations.
* Monitoring environmental prescriptions, geological constraints, and ground conditions during construction.
* Implementing quality control procedures for geotechnical and civil activities.
* Collecting and analyzing on-site data such as in-situ tests, boreholes, and environmental monitoring.
* Preparing technical reports and documentation on project progress.
* Maintaining accurate project records, including site reports, test results, certificates, drawings, and geological documentation.
* Managing design changes and assessing their geotechnical implications.
* Supporting designers and contractors in resolving technical issues with engineering solutions.
* Participating in technical meetings and coordinating with authorities and stakeholders.
* Monitoring safety standards, especially for excavation, underground construction, and slope stability.
* Assisting in environmental and geological control plan preparations.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or Civil Engineering; Master’s Degree preferred.
Qualifications
* Registered member of the Professional Geologists’ Association or equivalent.
* At least 5 years of experience in construction supervision of civil works, preferably in transport infrastructure.
Technical Skills
* Knowledge of geotechnical investigations, field testing, and environmental monitoring.
* Ability to interpret design documents and reports.
* Familiarity with relevant regulations.
* Competence in preparing technical documentation and reports.
