Position Summary
The Center for Peace and Justice Education is an academic unit in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences as well as a center of the Office for Mission and Ministry. The Center offers a major and minor, supports several related student organizations, and sponsors various lectures and events throughout the year. The Center explicitly carries out the Catholic and Augustinian mission of the University by contributing to the search for peace and social justice through education rooted in the Catholic Social Tradition.
The Assistant/Associate Director for Partnerships and Programming will build and maintain the Center’s relationships with on- and off-campus partners as well as current students and alumni. The Assistant/Associate Director will support the Center’s mission by co-creating high quality signature events and programming for both the Villanova campus and the broader community of alumni, neighbors, practitioners, and scholars. The Assistant/Associate Director will work to create opportunities for engagement between current Peace and Justice majors and minors, Center alumni, and the wider community, with a particular focus on supporting the career development and networking of current students. A successful candidate will combine knowledge and appreciation for peace and justice concerns with the logistical and administrative skills to manage large-scale events and initiatives.
Office for Mission and Ministry (OMM)

Duties and Responsibilities
CPJE Partnerships
* Build and maintain relationships with various on- and off-campus partners to ensure CPJE is informed, responsive, and collaborative.
* Support collaborative programming and initiatives with offices such as: Office of Belonging and Inclusion (OBI), Center for Dialogue, Office of Service Learning, Falvey Library, Augustine and Culture Seminar Program, and the Ethics Program.
* Provide Peace and Justice expertise and resources to University faculty members, departments, and committees.
* Chair the MLK Commemoration Committee and serve on other University-wide programming committees (e.g., Black History Month, Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month, etc.).
* Foster collaborative CPJE engagement with University student organizations and the Centers and Offices of Mission and Ministry.
* Engage local peace and justice organizations and practitioners through participation in membership, meetings, events, and programs.
* Envision opportunities for Villanova to contribute to local and national conversations about peace and justice, including through the Peace and Justice Studies Association.
Center Signature Programming
In collaboration with Center staff and campus partners, coordinate the Center’s signature events throughout the year, including:
* The Adela Dwyer–St. Thomas of Villanova Peace Award
* Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Keynote Lecture
* Freedom School
* Oscar Romero Solidarity Lecture
* Senior Gathering
Additional responsibilities include conceptualization, development, promotion, budgeting, marketing, logistics, and serving as a liaison for speakers and event coordinators.
Alumni Engagement
* Engage current students and alumni with one another and within their professional and personal journeys.
* Provide career development opportunities for current students, including serving as liaison to the University Career Center and assisting with the annual Exit Survey of graduating seniors.
* Supervise students in the PJ internship-for-credit.
* Lead alumni engagement efforts, including coordinating the annual Student-Alumni Dinner, fostering mentorship opportunities, and assisting with alumni communications.
CPJE Team Member
* Participate in CPJE core team meetings and activities.
* Attend and engage in Office of Mission and Ministry trainings and meetings.
* Serve on relevant committees and assist with programming needs.
* Meet regularly with the CPJE Director.
Other Duties
* Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
For Assistant Director:
* Minimum Bachelor’s Degree.
* At least 2 years of experience developing professional and/or institutional partnerships.
For Associate Director:
* Minimum Master’s degree.
* At least 6 years of experience in fields related to peace and justice, including previous experience in developing partnerships.
Work Skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication.
* Strong organizational and event planning skills.
* Cultural competency and ability to work with diverse campus community members.
Specific Job Knowledge
* Understanding of contemporary peace and justice issues.
* Knowledge of the Catholic social tradition.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in higher education preferred.
* Understanding of Catholic higher education in the Augustinian tradition.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and training available if needed.
Physical Requirements and Work Hours
General office environment. Special hours may be required.
