Reporting Line This position reports to the Manufacturing Unit Manager. Role and Responsibilities The Trade Compliance Responsible will ensure import/export compliance at the local level, implement ABB's Global Trade Program, and serve as the guardian of regulatory adherence, ensuring compliance with local and international trade and customs regulations. Responsibilities include customs tax compliance and VAT management. This role does not involve team supervision. Key responsibilities include: Developing, documenting, and maintaining procedures for export control, sanctions, and customs compliance. Providing updates to stakeholders on the implementation of ABB’s Global Trade Program and changes in export control and customs laws, including duties, taxes, security, and risk management. Implementing trade compliance awareness programs and training employees, especially those with delegated export control responsibilities. Training Customer Service and Shipping teams on Incoterms regulations. Producing certificates of origin and updating European nomenclature annually. Updating US and EU customs nomenclature in PDD and TOPS systems. Managing CBAM activities and monthly Intrastat reporting to the Belgian authorities. Providing long-term product declarations to customers. Offering policy guidance and practical support regarding export and customs compliance for daily operations. Conducting local trade reviews and self-audits, identifying improvements, and implementing corrective actions. Handling operational issues like customs delays, lost deliveries, and transit monitoring. Promoting trade compliance awareness within the organization. Qualifications Expertise in customs procedures, Trade Compliance, Incoterms, European legislation, and international trade agreements. Knowledge of export documentation and trade laws, including Free Trade Agreements and anti-dumping duties within the EU. Ability to collaborate with customs authorities and monitor operational compliance. Strong administrative skills, precision, and data accuracy. Fluent in French and English; Dutch is a plus. Ownership mindset, relationship-building skills, persuasiveness, and diplomacy. Resilience under stress and willingness to travel. Proactive learning attitude and business acumen. Procedural, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Adherence to ABB’s values and ethics. Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Trade, International Business, or related fields.
