We’re looking for a freelance mobile engineer to work side by side with our CTO in a continuous cycle of testing and iteration, with a direct impact on the company’s growth.
This is a freelance engagement today, with the intention to bring the right person into the core team as we scale.
Who we're looking for?
* 1+ year of Flutter experience or strong native iOS/Android background with genuine interest in Flutter.
* AI-pilled. You use AI tools to code faster and better. You’re curious about integrating AI models into mobile UX.
* Pragmatic. You ship a working prototype in 2 days rather than spend 2 weeks perfecting something unvalidated.
* UX-minded. You care about building products that are genuinely beautiful and delightful to use not just functional. Smooth animations, meaningful transitions, clear UI.
* Agile by default. Conventional commits, PR reviews, fast feedback loops. You feel at home in a weekly release cadence.

* Mobile: Flutter, Dart (null safety, sealed classes, pattern matching, Streams, Isolates), FVM
* State management: flutter_bloc (primary, sealed XEvent/XState) + flutter_riverpod
* Routing: go_router v15 — redirect-based auth guard, deep linking, nested routes
* Networking: Dio + interceptors (auth, locale, client ID), SSE streaming, WebSocket
* Auth: Firebase Auth, Apple/Google Sign-In, token refresh
* Maps: Apple Maps (iOS), Google Maps (Android) — clustering, geohash, viewport queries
* Media: Vertical video feed player, upload with compression & progress, bunny.net CDN
* Notifications: Firebase Messaging, custom popup coordinator service
* Build / Deploy: Flavors dev/prod via flutter_dotenv, TestFlight, Play Store internal track
* Observability: Firebase Crashlytics
* Testing: Unit + widget + integration tests, flutter analyze, flutter_lints

What you'll do
Your goal is simple: the app is the product, make it better every week. You’ll work in close collaboration with the CTO in a continuous cycle of testing and iteration, with direct impact on retention, engagement and conversion. No bloated backlog, no over-specified tickets. You propose, prototype, ship, measure, iterate.
* Video feed & recommendation — own the core of what users see and how they discover restaurants.
* Maps & geolocation — multi-level map experience with clustering, filters and smart local search.
* Gamification & campaigns — the system that makes restaurants want to be on Bestie Bite and users want to come back.
* Social & community — features that make discovering food a shared experience.
* AI-powered discovery — natural language search and conversational UX integrated with our AI backend.
* Native iOS/Android — platform-specific integrations when Flutter alone isn’t enough.
* Continuous delivery — weekly releases, conventional commits, TestFlight and Play Store internal tracks.
Hiring process
After an initial screening:
* Intro call — 30 min with the CTO
* Technical case / pair programming — 90 min
* Final interview — 60 min with CEO & COO
We aim to close the process within 2 weeks.

Powered by real videos from local foodies and creators, we’re making it easier than ever for people to find their next favourite meal and for restaurant owners to connect with their next best customers. And this is just the beginning. Our vision goes far beyond that.
Thanks to our cashback and gamification system, we went viral on social media and hit the top of the App Store charts. Today we have thousands of daily active users and hundreds of restaurant partners across Italy. We closed a €700k funding round in January 2026 and are in the process of closing a significant new round. We’ve also opened the US market, launching first in San Francisco.
The team is small, sharp and technically strong: Carlotta (CEO), Caterina (COO & CMO), both with years of experience in the restaurant industry, Placido (CTO, PhD in Robotics).
