As a Data Center Technician, you will maintain the heartbeat of the world’s most innovative technology platform, ensuring seamless data center operations that power millions of businesses and services worldwide. This role supports all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that provide continuous access to customer innovations.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix on various components, and troubleshooting of network issues.Respond to operational incidents that impact service availability, escalating to senior technicians and management as required.Act as a primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, developers, vendors, and contractors.Participate in on‑call duties, scheduled maintenance, and change management activities.Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.Help train and onboard new team members.Physical RequirementsRegularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds.Work in cramped and/or elevated locations; bend, lift, stretch, and reach as required.Stand and walk up to 8+ hours a day; ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.Work in a noisy environment and shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations, covering both day and night shifts.Essential RequirementsAbility to travel or commute between data center locations as needed.Willingness to work temporarily at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational.Day in the LifeTake ownership of technical issues brought by the customer base, engaging other teams when needed to drive resolution.Solve problems at their root and understand broader context.Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.Basic QualificationsHigh school or equivalent diploma.Ability to work on a flexible schedule including days, nights, and/or weekends.1+ year of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.Preferred QualificationsExperience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.Experience working in a Data Center environment.Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional or military experience in a relevant field (e.G., computer science, networking engineering).Understanding of network design, protocols, and layer 1/2 troubleshooting.EEO StatementAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.BenefitsStarting pay for this position is listed below.
