This role requires an exceptional understanding of engineering principles and the ability to provide visionary leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers. The Principal Engineer works independently and collaboratively with senior management to ensure the successful completion of projects, driving innovation and excellence across the organization.What you will work onYou will work on Barco CTRL, an innovative, scalable software platform for Control Rooms that simplifies workflows, deployment, and serviceability. Designed to uphold the highest levels of cybersecurity, Barco CTRL allows users to securely connect to their sources, from any location, and interact with the content on any video wall or operator desk. This position of a key part of the Barco CTRL solution and is situated in its low-level layer that deals directly with the visualization of the different sources on our Barco CTRL hardware. You will be mainly writing software that runs directly on our dedicated embedded devices.Lead AccountabilitiesLead and oversee the strategic design and development of highly complex and innovative engineering projects.Conduct advanced research and gather data to support project requirements.Prepare and review comprehensive technical documentation and reports.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project alignment and integration.Lead and facilitate project meetings, providing strategic insights and updates on assigned tasks.Perform rigorous testing and analysis to ensure project quality and compliance.Mentor and guide junior, mid-level, and senior engineers, providing technical expertise and support.Drive process improvements to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.Maintain strong communication and relationships with stakeholders, ensuring their requirements and expectations are met.Contribute to the strategic planning and decision-making processes within the engineering department.Required CompetenciesEducationAt least a bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related and relevant fieldExperience8-10 years of relevant experience in an Engineering roleRequired SkillsExceptional understanding of engineering principles and practices.Proficiency in engineering software and tools, using primarily C, C++, and pythonProficiency in engineering solutions running on a Linux platformExperience with Multimedia Frameworks (e.g. GStreamer) and CodecsExperience developing USB- or other low-drivers driversExperience working on embedded devicesStrong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skillsExcellent communication and teamwork abilitiesManagement responsibilities, including overseeing multiple project teams and components of larger projectsStrong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members, stakeholders, and clientsA desire to drive process and tooling improvements & innovation🛡️ We are committed to conducting our business activities with the highest standards of integrity, responsibility and compliance across all aspects of our operations.
