Overview
The TIGEM Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine seeks a Bioinformatician (Junior to Senior Level) to join our dynamic research environment focused on advancing our understanding of genetic diseases and developing innovative therapeutic approaches. TIGEM is a world-renowned research institute located in Pozzuoli (Naples), Italy, funded by the “Fondazione Telethon,” the second largest Italian charity dedicated to cure rare genetic disorders. Position: Bioinformatician
Location: Pozzuoli (Naples), Italy
Contract: Initial 2-year appointment, renewable. ("Contratto di Dipendente a Tempo Determinato")
Starting date: 1st October 2025
Responsibilities
- Analyse large-scale omics datasets (e.g., RNA-seq, Chip-seq, single-cell, spatial transcriptomics, WGS/WES).
- Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines and tools.
- Support TIGEM research groups in experimental design, statistical analysis, and interpretation of data.
- Provide training and guidance to researchers and students on bioinformatics tools and data analysis.
Required Qualifications
- MSc or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline.
- Proficiency in scripting/programming languages (e.g., R, Bash, Python).
- Experience with high-throughput sequencing analysis and common bioinformatics tools.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems and HPC computing environments.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with spatial transcriptomics data.
- Hands-on experience working with job schedulers (e.g., SLURM).
- Experience with workflow managers (e.g., Nextflow) and container technologies (e.g., Docker, Singularity).
