To spearhead this initiative, we are actively seeking experienced systems engineers with a strong background in automation and operations. As part of the AWS Managed Operations team, you will play a pivotal role in building and leading operations and development teams dedicated to delivering high‑availability AWS services—including EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock—exclusively for EU customers. A typical day in this role involves collaborating with technology leaders, contributing to the enhancement of day‑to‑day operations, and ensuring improvements in availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC. You will be required to occasionally participate in “on‑call” rotations to resolve incidents occurring out‑of‑hours. /p pThe overarching goal is to deliver scalable services and ensure a high‑availability experience for EU customers. You dedicate a substantial portion of your time to carefully review the operational health of services within your team's responsibility, diligently identify anomalies and craft actionable bug reports, and provide constructive feedback on change management documents to address your team's operational backlog. You collaborate to navigate challenges and ensure seamless functionality, engage in the development and testing of scripts, and act as an educator sharing insights on the complexities of the European Sovereign Cloud with service teams. Your commitment to continuous learning and improvement is crucial to the collective success of your team and the reliability of our software systems. /p h3Eligibility Requirements /h3 ul liFluency in written and spoken English is required. /li liCandidate must be a national of an EU member state and residing in the EU to operate the AWS European Sovereign Cloud. /li liAmazon will provide relocation support for successful applicants relocating within the European Union. /li liEmployees will participate in an On‑Call rota. /li /ul h3Basic Qualifications /h3 ul liThis role requires you to be a national of an EU member state. /li liDemonstrated expertise in systems engineering working with hardware, software, networking, operating systems. /li liExperience scripting processes in a language such as Bash, Python, or Ruby. /li liSolid understanding of Linux and networking, ability to troubleshoot and anticipate problems that affect the performance, reliability, or availability of software systems. /li liAble to lead the creation, revision, and/or improvement of standard operational procedures (SOPs) and drive operational best practices. /li /ul h3Preferred Qualifications /h3 ul liExperience with monitoring frameworks (such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic or similar). /li liExperience actively mentoring junior engineers and working cross‑organizationally to lead strategic team efforts requiring work from multiple team members. /li liExperience supporting services in AWS or other cloud systems. /li liExperience operating 24x7 high‑availability, distributed software applications and performance‑tuning software applications to optimize fleet utilization. /li liExperience with Infrastructure as Code, such as CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or similar. /li /ul h3About the Team /h3 pDiverse Experiences: AWS values diverse experiences.
