Commissioning Engineer (Protection & Control Systems) – Hitachi Energy We are looking for a maintainer for service and commissioning for our Grid Automation Business Unit in Santa Palomba in Rome. The role supports on‑site works across Italy, completing activities efficiently, in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. Why You'll Make an Impact
Work within the Service & Commissioning team, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues at customer sites to finalize the customer acceptance certification. Ensure adherence to the commissioning schedule up to handover, working independently with limited supervision, and provide feedback to improve the lessons‑learned process. Implement commissioning design changes and provide mark‑ups for “as built” project documentation; coordinate with the site manager and third‑party providers on specific projects. Produce progress reports in accordance with client expectations and obtain satisfactory sign‑off; conduct Safety Observation Tours regularly to report and mitigate potential HSE hazards. Execute on‑site activities related to service and commissioning of HV protection system and SCADA/RTU system preparation and testing. Handle snag list resolution independently. Assist in technical discussions with customers during commissioning activities. Attend FAT and SAT as required.
Your background
Bachelor’s Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Technical Diploma or equivalent qualifications and experience. Experience in P&C site commissioning of substations. Experience with test devices (Omicron, Isa); proven experience on Hitachi Microscada and RTU560 product; knowledge of PLC automation commissioning; knowledge of IEC104/101 and 61850 protocols; knowledge of networking and network devices. Strong communication and problem‑solving skills. Flexibility to travel to client sites as required (80 %). Fluency in Italian and English.
