What We Are Looking For
This role involves conducting crop modelling activities aimed at assessing the impacts of climate change on agricultural systems. Applicants will support the application of crop models and/or machine learning to evaluate climate effects, identify adaptation and mitigation strategies, and integrate socio‑economic indicators for climate‑related risk assessment in agriculture and food security.

Role Overview
The successful candidate will contribute to research activities assessing climate change impacts on agricultural systems and developing adaptation strategies. Working under CMCC scientists, responsibilities include implementing process‑based crop models and data‑driven methods to simulate crop growth and resilience under different climate scenarios.
Responsibilities
* Collect and prepare data for parameterization and validation of crop models based on measured data.
* Run simulations under climate change scenarios.
* Support the implementation of machine‑learning models to predict crop yield.
* Integrate agronomic data with socio‑economic indicators for climate‑risk and food security assessment.
* Prepare technical reports, graphs, and geospatial visualizations.
* Communicate research outcomes through high‑impact publications and conference presentations.
Requirements
* Master’s degree in Agricultural Science or related disciplines.
* Experience (e.g., thesis or internship) in crop modelling and climate data analysis.
* Experience with machine‑learning frameworks.
* Programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages.
* Basic experience with geospatial analysis and visualization tools.
* Excellent command of English, with strong communication skills for multidisciplinary collaboration.
* Availability to travel for limited periods.
* Scientific publications and relevant research experience will be considered.
Duration, Compensation & Benefits
* Initial appointment period: 12 months, renewable for an additional 12 months pending a positive evaluation.
* Gross annual salary range: €17,000 – €30,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
* 12‑month contract includes welfare package.
* Flexible working time as per internal policies.
* Support during the immigration process, if needed.
